Found out at the weekend that we are having a little girl. Typical as we had agreed on a boys name but seem a little lost when it comes to a girls name. Our current list is below but would love some more suggestions. Surname begins with a 'H' and ends with a 'y' if that helps.

•	Isla
•	Olivia
•	Orla
•	Grace
•	Isabelle
•	Eve
•	Hazel
•	Cara
•	Maia
•	Flora
•	Fern
•	Eliza

•Isla - it's okay but very popular. I prefer Ayla

•Olivia- Nice name but very over used

•Orla - Love this but would worry about Oral so I prefer the Orlaith spelling but if you're in England that may create pronunciation problems.

•Grace - people on here usually say it is boring or a middle name but I like it as a first name!

•Isabelle - I just want to put the word 'end' onto this name every time I hear it.

•Eve - lovely

•Hazel- okay but not my fave.

•Cara - Nice and not over used.

•Maia - Nice.

•Flora- hell no.

•Fern- I like this but for some reason keep taking it off my list.

•Eliza- sounds too harsh

spice3 · 21/10/2019 12:27

Isla - overused
Olivia - overused
Orla - it's okay but does autocorrect to Oral!
Grace - bit basic but it's okay
Isabelle - don't like
Eve - like this
Hazel - really like this
Cara - don't like
Maia - don't like
Flora - don't like
Fern - really like
Eliza - don't like

I'd go for Eve, Hazel or Fern Grin

userabcname · 21/10/2019 12:31

Isabelle or Flora from that list.
How about Elizabeth, Felicity, Edith, Lydia, Penelope?

MrsNoMopp · 21/10/2019 12:41

Isabelle, Cara or Olivia.

neverornow · 21/10/2019 12:53

We just called our daughter Thea. Everyone is commenting on how nice it is. I believe it's quite popular in parts of the UK though (in case you want to avoid a popular name!)

Eventrider1 · 21/10/2019 12:56

@neverornow I love Thea but my sister has called her son Theo which is just too similar unfortunately.

@Jj2431 😂 thanks for that. Never thought about that when it came to Isabelle but now I can't get it out of my head!

•Isla - too common
•Olivia - as above
•Orla - no
•Grace - common middle name
•Isabelle - prefer Isabella
•Eve - no
•Hazel - quite like, a bit different
•Cara - Clara is so much nicer
•Maia - prefer Gaia
•Flora - ok but Florence is nicer
•Fern - no
•Eliza - quite nice

QuinoaWest · 21/10/2019 12:59

Cara.

Classy.
Beautiful meanings of 'beloved' and 'friend'.
Works well for any age throughout life.
Cara Dillon's a very cool namesake!

schnubbins · 21/10/2019 13:04

Cara gets my vote.

Disfordarkchocolate · 21/10/2019 13:07

I love Hazel and I like all the rest, some I hear on here a lot so but that wouldn't bother me.

CatteStreet · 21/10/2019 13:18

I think Cara is my favourite, too. I also like Hazel (perhaps not ideal with an H surname, though), Flora and Orla. The others are (mostly - not keen on Eliza or Fern) nice enough but (mostly) overused.

You seem to like quite short names. How about Clara, Ruth, Ellen, Anna, Lucy?

VenusClapTrap · 21/10/2019 13:30

Hazel, Flora or Fern. I love these; they were on my list for dd.

MissHenty · 21/10/2019 14:17

I LOVE Isla olivia and eve

Out of interest what was your boy name? @Eventrider1

Eventrider1 · 21/10/2019 14:22

@MissHenty I had Arthur picked out for a boy.
