Mine must be:

Male:
Rufus (never liked the name)
Jonathan (personal hate 🤷‍♀️)
Marcus (reminds me of mucus)

Female:
Brianne (annoying name)
Kim (Kim Jong-Un, Kim Kardashian...)
Regina (Mean Girls)
Karen (stupid Mean Girl)
Rachel (bit plain and Rachel Green)

Blaithín was his suggestion for a girl with dc2.

He genuinely couldn’t understand why a non-Irish speaker wouldn’t think “blaw” was an attractive start to a name.

TateWorm · 18/10/2019 11:51

My now-ex's only girl name suggestions were all his exes' names and—as I found out later—names of women he was messaging behind my back.

His boy name suggestions were mostly after rock stars (think members of the Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Black Sabbath) and he seriously wanted to name our firstborn after Bam Margera (we're Scottish and bam is a word used to refer to an idiotic person so that would have been great fun to have as a name here.)

We had girls and went with names I liked thankfully.

@Ahundredpercentthatbitch I love Maverick Grin

My DP has suggested Eden for a girl but I've always loved to name a boy it Blush
He also suggested Elin for a girl and really didn't like that!

HotSince82 · 18/10/2019 12:23

Yes, Eden is primarily a boys name, I think its too masculine sounding with the hard consonant at the end for a girl.

My DH suggested both Cadence and Brad Confused

spice3 · 18/10/2019 12:26

@HotSince82 Grin

My DP also suggested Barry at one point Confused

userabcname · 18/10/2019 12:32

Mine suggested Hades, insisting it would be fine as no-one pays attention to meanings or would know who Hades is (!). I disagreed. He stated a thread on Reddit about it to try to prove me wrong but luckily everyone there was on my side!

l12d04 · 18/10/2019 13:13

Francesca

I don't mind the name itself but hate Fran/Frankie which she would inevitably be called

HalfManHalfLabrador · 18/10/2019 13:15

Sharon - in 1999!! Confused

Ohmygod123 · 18/10/2019 13:49

My OH once met someone called Tallula Blue-Ray (obviously born before the blueray dvd was invented) and is insistant that's what he wants to called his little girl if we have one

aweedropofsancerre · 18/10/2019 13:51

My DH suggested Troy...... that’s all I need to say ( and apologies to anyone who has named there DC that)

mistermagpie · 18/10/2019 14:46

Marcus. Which is alright and and everything, but we have a Magnus already - it's practically the same name!

december20100 · 18/10/2019 15:22

The name Timothy he likes it, I don't

Couchbettato · 18/10/2019 15:58

I wish mine suggested ANY name, instead he kept quiet and just vetoed what he didn't like

GummyGoddess · 18/10/2019 16:08

Fecking Constantine! No, I don't want a baby nicknamed Stan.

ilovemykids5 · 18/10/2019 16:22

@Couchbettato yeah I've got one like that too. 😂

ImFineThankYouSusan · 18/10/2019 16:37

Jack.
Boring af

SilverySurfer · 18/10/2019 16:45

ceebeejeebies
My dad wanted to call me Zeus (pronounced zee-us grin) or blade, I'm so happy I was born a girl and given a slightly more conventional name.

You should feel happy that you weren't born this year, with the increasing numbers who want to give their female baby a unisex (male) name.

I'm sure you would have loved being Zeus Grin

RecoveringChocaholic · 18/10/2019 20:01

My DH didn't actually suggest anything too outrageous but we got fed up with people asking us if we had decided on a name yet so we just said that our DS will be called humphrey and DD is delilah Esmeralda tallulah. Then just watch their faces and walk away. 😂

May84 · 18/10/2019 21:43

I'm a mental health nurse who works on an acute men's ward; so loads of male names have been ruined for me by having difficult/aggressive patients with those names!
The most common names for some reason are Stephen, Jonathon, Darren, Daniel and Jason! Common names for 35+ men I guess.
So I literally have one boys name that I like, but tons of girls names as I don't work with women 😂

Pumpkincandle · 18/10/2019 22:13

I see Eden as a girls name Hmm

My husband wants Thor for a boy. We're not Scandinavian and definitely cannot pull it off!

TheQueens · 18/10/2019 22:20

He wanted Ingrid for a girl, thank the lord DC was a boy!

IndieTara · 18/10/2019 22:22

My XH wanted DD to hé called Neda

Crunchymum · 19/10/2019 13:40

DP liked Shannon and Joanne for DD

No way Jose. Both were vetoed!!

CharitySchmarity · 19/10/2019 21:06

This is 20+ years ago but DH went through phases of liking Broderick, Isambard and Tobias. I could probably have lived with Tobias, so long as we didn't call him Toby which I felt was a bit too cutesy. The other two, not so much.

Oh, and he liked Lisa for a girl, which I thought was too strongly associated with our age group.

SubmersibleSandwich · 19/10/2019 21:20

Curtis Hmm
