My shortlist for baby #2

I'm (almost) 30 weeks with a baby girl.

I've narrowed it down to 3 girls names:
*Lumi
*Jovie
*Elvi (or Elvie?)

I'm not 100% set on any of these still anyway so don't be afraid to be rude! Looking for some honest opinions on them?

Love jovie

MissHenty · 16/10/2019 15:36

I don’t really like Jovi as it’ll just end up as “Jo” (fairly inevitable) and I don’t really like it

Like the other two ideas

Other options
Edith (Eddie)
Margaret (Maggie)
Clementine (Clemmie)
Ottilie (Ottie)
Emmy/Emmie
Delilah
Roxanna (Roxie/Roxy)
Roxanne (Roxie/Roxy)

They all seem like shortenings for other names. I like Lumi but would probably put Lumiere on the birth certificate

Changedname81 · 16/10/2019 16:11

If you like Lumi, what about Lumen - a measure of light - seems “fuller”

Elvi is an anagram of evil so not overly keen

Indie
Libby
Gigi
Ari(a)
Livi

Good luck Grin

@MissHenty that does put me off Jovie!

And Roxy has been on my list the whole time, I just got sick of being told it's a dogs name and scratched it!! I think it's lovely though! Smile

@spice3 I don’t know any dogs with this name but have met one Roxanna and one Roxanne (in their 20s) so see this very much as a persons name. I think it’s lovely !

diddlediddle · 16/10/2019 16:57

Elvie is the name of a best-selling pelvic floor trainer... so might depend how your birth goes? 😅 www.elvie.com

They also make a fancy breast pump that hides in your bra!

Don't like Jovie. Seems like a nn for something.

Lumi is quite sweet, the best of the bunch.

IrishMamaMia · 16/10/2019 17:10

In addition to thinking of the Elvie pelvic device Lumi reminds me of the Philips Lumea, hair removal device.Sorry :(

MikeUniformMike · 16/10/2019 17:38

Jovie makes me think of Stovie and Bon Jovi

daisypond · 16/10/2019 18:58

I don’t like any. They’re all too twee and bland. Elvira? Sylvie?

honeybunlatte · 16/10/2019 19:46

I love Lumi!

Not keen on Jovie. Prefer Elfie to Elvie. Also love PP suggestion of Lumen with nickname Lumi.

spice3 · 16/10/2019 19:51

@honeybunlatte loved the name Elvie, shared it on a FB group of baby names and it got slated badly so I took it off Blush

Don't like any of them I'm sorry. What other names do you like?
How about
Edie
Effie
Jolie

DramaAlpaca · 16/10/2019 23:09

Not keen on any of those, sorry.

Jossina · 17/10/2019 00:00

None of them sound great. What about them do you like?

Astronica · 17/10/2019 03:36

I quite like them all. I'm finding it hard to pick a favourtie. I do love Jo names so Jovie seems an appealing, quirky version of these. Lumi is sweet and interesting, and Elvie (prefer this spelling) is a name I've seen used around my grandma's era and feels vintage to me like Ivy and Elsie - but more unusual and interesting than them. Not much help here in choosing one!

custardbear · 17/10/2019 04:19

Lumi sounds like looney (just thinking kids and giving horrible nick nNes
Jovie- John Bon

071019DD · 17/10/2019 06:00

Definitely Elvie of your 3 names, its sweet and quirky all at the same time! El and Vi as nn are awesome! I really like Roxy too. I dont think it's a dog name... I'd probably have a Roxanna and nn to Roxy! Good luck OP.

PandasMum · 17/10/2019 07:03

I really don’t like any of them sorry

PandasMum · 17/10/2019 07:04

What about Vivienne ? You could nickname Elvi

bridgetreilly · 17/10/2019 20:47

Honestly, they all sound to me like brands of shampoo rather than girls' names. I like Roxy (prefer Roxie, I think) much better than any of them.
