Eliza or Rosa?

Would be a sister for Reuben - we had decided on Rosa but is it a bit Kardashian to have two names beginning with the same letter?

I like them both but prefer the sound of Eliza.

bridgetreilly · 15/10/2019 13:12

Names with same initial is fine and not Kardashian unless you have used a Yoonique spelling to make that happen, e.g. William and Wrosa.

But I still much prefer Eliza.

witherwings · 15/10/2019 13:12

I think they are both lovely, they both work as a name for a baby, child and adult.
Rosie is a bit cutesy.
I have an Eliza and she was the only one at school for ages (large primary) but now there is another in reception and I know of another couple of little ones with the name.
Don't know any kids called Rosa if you are wanting less popular.

Clayplease · 15/10/2019 14:35

I think Eliza and Reuben sound great together.

crankyotter · 15/10/2019 14:54

Rosa

Thanks for the replies everyone! Ohh it’s so close! I’m still so torn!

Like them both equally. :)

Tweetingmagpie · 15/10/2019 16:14

I like Rosa, it’s more interesting than rose.

Eliza is nice aswell but a bit bland.

IsadoraQuagmire · 15/10/2019 16:25

I like Rosa better, it's one of my middle names. I do like Eliza, but as an abbreviation of Elizabeth, not as a stand alone name.
Reuben and Rosa sound great together.

FreshHorizons · 15/10/2019 17:10

Eliza

Hey1256 · 15/10/2019 18:29

Rosa

Krisskrosskiss · 15/10/2019 18:30

Eliza, I really like that name.

daisypond · 15/10/2019 18:40

I prefer the simplicity of Rose to Rosa. But Eliza is a feisty name- Pygmalion and My Fair Lady - so it has a strong pull. Tough one.

Cockadoodledooo · 15/10/2019 21:50

Odd comment coming up..

I like both names, but for me the order matters somehow! I like 'Eliza and Reuben' together, but not the other way round. Also like 'Reuben and Rosa', but again not the other way round. So, given that she's to be Ruben's little sister, by my logic (if you can call it that!) she's a Rosa.

Shadow1234 · 16/10/2019 04:47

Rosa is a lovely name, not keen on Eliza

Botanica · 16/10/2019 05:16

MUCH prefer the sound of Eliza.

Also it might not matter when they are young, but having post come to 'R. Last name' when they are teenagers and adults is annoying when it falls into the wrong hands.

AngelaDevon · 16/10/2019 21:19

My daughter is Eliza, and we get compliments all the time. I like Rosa too, but my husband doesnt. Difficult choice!

DramaAlpaca · 16/10/2019 21:58

I prefer Rosa, but to avoid alliteration I'd go for Eliza as a sister to Reuben.

aibutohavethisusername · 16/10/2019 22:42

Rosa

MadameJosephine · 16/10/2019 22:44

Love Eliza.

Not keen on Rosa but I do like Rose and Roseanne

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 16/10/2019 22:48

Eliza makes me think of Pygmallion. So a child manipulated for the entertainment of men.

Rosa - not great.

Rose - much better.

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 16/10/2019 22:49

(If memory serves, 18, but flower girl)

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 17/10/2019 01:30

Rosa. It is pretty as in Rose.

Eliza always reminds me of a kitchen maid/servant in the old days type of name. I prefer Elizabeth nn Beth ot Izzy.

Freakonomics · 20/10/2019 10:40

Love both!

Leopardprintboots · 20/10/2019 12:02

@Botanica I’m pretty sure by the time they’re teenagers post will be used even less id have thought
My bank statements, phone bill are now all online. Never in post. My doctors has just gone digital and I now get my blood test results online. The only thing I get in post is cards from friends etc and they write my full name. By the time my kids are grown they will probably laugh that we ever thought “post” should be a factor?
