First name for a girl to suit this middle name?

DD due early Jan next year and I have always wanted to honour my younger sister in some way, she is a very big part of my life, so you can imagine my excitement when I found out we were having a girl.

My younger sisters name is Kayleigh and although I don’t want to name my daughter directly after her I did want to use her name as a middle name but we are struggling to match.

Me and hubby have been drawn to names like Lucy, Lilly, Molly and I don’t feel like a that would suit the middle name as it is too many ‘ee’ sounds which could be a bit of a mouthful (our surname does not ending in an ee sound I should note).

So, parents! Any name suggestions for this? I really do want her middle name to be Kayleigh and although we did like the names mentioned previously, we are open to hearing new name ideas Smile

It's a middle name so will hardly ever be used. Pick a first name you love and don't worry about whether it goes or not.

I wouldn't pick Hayley, Eilidh, or anything else that might sound ridiculous, or anything like Calla, Kelly, Cally Kaia etc.

Something like Molly Kayleigh Surname is fine.

I would rule out names like Katy/Katie too.

@MikeUniformMike

Totally agree! Just pick a first name you like and don’t worry about it it perfect “goes” with your child’s middle name

All my best friends are from school and I joe you don’t know any of their middle names and I’ve known them 20+ years. My husbands middle name I think I only found out after about 2+ years of dating. It’s really not mentioned very much.

Lucy, lily and Molly are such lovely names- I’d use one of them. My favourite is lucy ❤️

Lucy is my favourite too. I dislike Lil although Lily is nice. Molly is fine.

Agree just pick a name you love.
I wouldn’t be choosing something just because it goes with a middle name.

MikeUniformMike · 14/10/2019 17:14

Pick a first name that you love and that sounds nice with your surname.
Unless you have a common surnmae and pick a fairly popular first name, the middle name will hardly ever be used.

Most people are known as Firstname Surname not the full name.

Ricekrispie22 · 14/10/2019 17:32

Pick a longer name that flows well with Kayleigh, but you can shorten to something that suits your name presences.

E.g. Matilda Kayleigh (Tilly)
Elizabeth Kayleigh (Lizzie)
Alexis Kayleigh (Lexi)
Madeleine Kayleigh (Maddie)
Eleanor Kayleigh (Ellie)
Isabelle Kayleigh (Izzie)

I ask people their middle name all the time cause I'm nosey curious to know if its more unique or how well it goes with their first name 😂

Don't have any suggestions though...

Margaret Kayleigh sounds nice

Then, if you wish, you could use Molly (or one of a positive myriad of other nicknames) as a day-to-day diminutive

071019DD · 14/10/2019 19:43

I love Molly from the 3 names you mentioned and agree with others I would def pick a first name I loved. Its lovely that your DD will have such a meaningful and loved middle name. If it's not the "ideal" flow all the thought and meaning easily makes up for it! Good luck with the rest of pregnancy OP.

Would all be fine with Kayleigh if you are bothered about them going together.

morado I'm soooo glad I'm not the only one fascinated by middle names, most people on here aren't that concerned by middle names as they're rarely used but I love hearing the full name

MikeUniformMike · 14/10/2019 20:31

Molly Kayleigh Smith is ok because the surname is strong.
Molly Kayleigh will hardly ever be used other than in the form
Smith, Molly Kayleigh

Bythebeach · 14/10/2019 20:38

Could you use Kay instead of Kayleigh as a middle name to honour your sister but allow a first name of your choice?

123Dancewithme · 14/10/2019 23:09

Mary Kayleigh
