What do people think about Elowen? Also considering Elin, Elinor, Lowenna. We have mixed Cornish and Welsh families

I love them all. On a similar note I adore Eleri.

MrsBertBibby · 11/10/2019 05:32

Elowen and Elin both great. Less keen on Elinor. Lowenna is not good.

daisypond · 11/10/2019 07:35

I really like it. Lovely name.

Windydaysuponus · 11/10/2019 07:55

In a world of LOL it isn't really fair imo!!
She will be LON...
Laugh out not.

Imo.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 11/10/2019 08:00

Not my cup of tea but hadn’t heard of it so thought it was made up!
Eleanor is much nicer IMO

Grufallosfriends · 11/10/2019 08:01

I love Elowen! Also like Eleri.

Eleanor is so overused and dull in comparison

TreesoftheField · 11/10/2019 12:08

I thought it was pronounced L Ow N. Find it confusing!
Also like Merryn, Rozenwyn, Tamar (pronounced Taymar)

happycamper11 · 11/10/2019 12:19

I imagined it to be a boys name. Not a big fan

Bentley111 · 11/10/2019 13:21

I live in Cornwall but not Cornish. I love it.

FizzyGreenWater · 11/10/2019 15:00

I don't like it - it just sounds too Lord of the Rings to me, although I know it isn't. Bit made up and dramatic.

The L O N thing would kill it for me too!

Lots of nicer Cornish names imo. Lowenna is lovely.

Velveteenfruitbowl · 11/10/2019 15:03

It’s beautiful. We know a couple who have one. Their other children have brilliant names too.

Thatmusicusedtomakemesmile · 11/10/2019 19:18

This was one of our favourites but we knew everyone would say ELO-win rather than the correct El-OWEN (ryhmes with Rowan) which would bug me. Shame as it is a lovely name

missmouse101 · 11/10/2019 19:23

Elowen awful, Lowenna fabulous!

Thatmusicusedtomakemesmile · 11/10/2019 19:26

We were right too. There was an Elowen pronounced ELO-win at our baby group

Thatmusicusedtomakemesmile · 11/10/2019 19:28

Same with Tegen. Loved it. Another Cornish name, meaning pretty little thing. Pronounced to rhyme with Megan. But you know you would get TEE-gan

Nonameyet1 · 12/10/2019 18:32

Great name choices

Frith2013 · 12/10/2019 20:55

It’s ok. It reminds me of LDN by Lily Allen though!

Proseccoinamug · 12/10/2019 23:51

Elowen is gorgeous. Please use it!

WonderGirl11 · 13/10/2019 00:09

I have an Elowen, I live in Cornwall and there are a few Elowen’s here it’s not that unusual. People here tend to pronounce it properly, emphasis on second syllable. It means Elm. I love it. No regrets about using it. I think DD could call herself Ellie if she wants to later.

Lowenna is lovely too. It means joy/happiness.

dreichsky · 13/10/2019 00:12

I think it is a very pretty name that is straight forward to guess how to pronounce.
