What do you think about Omari for a girl?

I've never heard this name. Where does it come from?

First impressions are that it sounds like some kind of computer brand or something. It's definitely very unique . Also sounds more masculine than feminine to me.
However I like 'Marie' as a potential nickname, or Oma or something.

I know an Omari who is a boy.
Maybe just Mari for a girl (pronounced Mar-ee rather than Mah—rie like Marie)

I've never heard it but like it! As its unusual I'm not sure it matters what the gender is traditionally. But I do like Mari and Amara as PPs suggested.

Currently teach a boy called Omari. Not heard of it being a girl name, that's not to say it couldn't, but I would think Amari more girl.
