Just that really- middle name will probably be Elisabeth after her grandma but am not too bothered about which ‘flows’ better as her middle name will he used so rarely Grin

Both are lovely...bonnie Margot Elizabeth maybe?

LetItGoHome · 22/09/2019 08:14

I have a Margot and love it. So my vote goes there. It gets a lot of hate on Mumsnet though. People are commenting a lot that it has become super popular. But it's only 99th in England and Wales right now so that's a myth. I also don't know of any others personally (London). I see it as strong and feisty. Makes a change from the popular fluffy, cute names that are popular right now.

bridgetreilly · 22/09/2019 09:37

Margot.

Bonnie was a Blue Peter dog. And also Bonnie Langford. I don't really have any positive associations with it. Whereas Margot Fonteyn was elegant and brilliant and a great role model.

MintyT · 22/09/2019 09:42

I really like Bonner. ( but it has meaning in my family) then call her bonnie

Hoppinggreen · 22/09/2019 09:44

I love Margot but my friend called her baby this and nobody seems to get it. For some reason people ask her how to spell it all the time and even the nursery keep calling her Margaret!
Seems simple to me but apparently not

ArchMemory · 22/09/2019 09:47

I love Margot. Would have been on my list for a girl (also Audrey mentioned by someone else above).

I’m afraid Bonnie sounds a bit twee to my ears. And isn’t it a nickname for another name?

AverageMummy · 22/09/2019 17:02

Margot is about the worst name going - don’t understand the appeal whatsoever

Bonnie is a Labrador’s name

I’d still vote for Bonnie

FizzyGreenWater · 23/09/2019 17:37

I like Margot but it's getting more popular, I quite like Bonnie as a wild card choice but I'd tire of it I think.

Off the cuff suggestion: how about Blythe? Similar to Bonnie in some ways but with the dash of 1920s charm that Margot has?

MissHenty · 23/09/2019 17:45

Vote for Margot. Lovely name

MikeUniformMike · 23/09/2019 19:21

Of the two, Bonnie. Margot is strangely very popular right now - some celebrity called Margot perhaps?

Can only think of Bonnie Tyler and Bonnie Langford as famous Bonnies.

Not madly keen on either of them.

PrincessLouis · 23/09/2019 19:38

Both quite nice, Bonnie for me is the heroine of The Wolves of Willoughby Chase. Margot is Tony Hart’s assistant on Hart Beat. Think I may have answered the question for myself there...

Phoebesgift · 23/09/2019 20:30

Margot 100%. Really dislike Bonnie. Sounds like a pet's name.

AverageMummy · 23/09/2019 20:43

@LetItGoHome I don’t think people mean too popular as in the statistics, but in that it’s an of the moment / faddy name.

Bonnie or Margot?
Astronica · 23/09/2019 23:35

I prefer Bonnie.

howu2 · 23/09/2019 23:45

Margot reminds me
Of maggot.

Bonnie is cute

Persea · 23/09/2019 23:50

Margot spelt Margaux if the other spelling reminds people of maggot.

123Dancewithme · 24/09/2019 00:08

Margot

MadisonAvenue · 24/09/2019 00:17

Bonnie.

Margot isn’t nice, it’s really harsh sounding.

MikeUniformMike · 24/09/2019 08:47

Margaux is awful. It doesn't look feminine - it just looks like it's a french wine region or something.
Margo is better, but the Margot spelling is more popukar.

Grufallosfriends · 24/09/2019 09:02

The Margaux spelling is actually more popular than Margot in France!

Margot is often pronounced Mar-gott. Margaux or Margo is not.

Geneva1995 · 24/09/2019 20:54

Love them both 🤣 so I’m no help. If I had to choose, I’d probably go with Margot. Goes better with Elizabeth x

JinCa · 14/10/2019 09:32

We have a three year old Margot, love the name! Bonnie is nice but a bit cute for me, maybe as a nickname?

MarshaBradyo · 14/10/2019 09:39

Not Margot so Bonnie

subwaysaladfan · 14/10/2019 09:50

Love both but if I had to choose Id probably go with Bonnie.

Frith2013 · 14/10/2019 09:53

Neither.

But Margot is the name I dislike most in the world so I’d have to choose Bonny.
