But it has to be spelt Sunny otherwise it just looks really strange and mis spelt

My son had a boy in his class called sonny, I really liked it.

Sunny is ok, Sunnie isn't.

It makes me think of Muslims or Cher.

Give Sunniva as the full name then it will be ok. She was a saint (and one of the Aberdeen-Shetland ferries when P&O ran that line, if I remember correctly).

Now run by Northlink so if you wanted a more up to date name you could go for Hrossey or Hjaltland which are the current ships - not such good nickname potential though.

I actually rather like Sunny - probably spelled like that, and I could come round to Sunnie. It’s not my style of name, though. It’s loads nicer than the demeaning Sonny for a boy and also lots better than other weather names for girls like Stormy or Tempest.

No idea why I know this but Danny Dyer has a daughter called Sunny, that alone would put me off!
