Oh, a lovely list of classic names - very nice. I like all of them apart from George. My favourites are Jonathan & Peter, both of which are underused these days.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 11/09/2019 00:20

Cant really go wrong with any of them. Good, solid classics.
Least favourite is Edward but still dont dislike it. Love the rest.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/09/2019 00:41

All nice aside from Jonathan.

Astronica · 11/09/2019 01:03

A great list - all good names.
My favourites are:
Edward
Thomas
William
My least favourite (though I don't dislike any of them):
Joseph
Benjamin

Lavenderblues · 11/09/2019 07:40

I like Jonathan and Peter.

I dislike William- the one we know gets teased with Willy.

HamiltonBentley · 11/09/2019 08:04

All lovely strong names.

My favourites are William and Edward.

I like Benjamin the least.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 11/09/2019 08:11

Alexander is by far the best.

Joseph also nice.

MikeUniformMike · 11/09/2019 08:21

I opened the thread expecting:
Theodore, Sebastian, Kit ...
but was surprised - a list of really good names. I like all of them but my top choice James isn't there Smile. I'd probably pick Peter.
Alexander - probably know too many to use
Benjamin - nice but popular in the 40 something agegroup
Edward - like but Teddy is so popular now
George - great but Prince George
Jonathan - Like it
Joseph - Like it
Peter - Love it.
Thomas - Love it but know lots of 30 something Toms
William - Like it.

MrsBertBibby · 11/09/2019 10:46

Alexander, Joseph and Thomas are all excellent.

George and William are not nice.

The others are fine, but not excellent.

fitzbilly · 11/09/2019 10:57

A bit boring and mainstream, but people tend to like those names.

My favourite is Peter.

Grufallosfriends · 11/09/2019 11:53

I really like Peter and Jonathan.

Some of the others are a little dull from overuse especially Ben(jamin), Alex(ander), George etc

I hate William, sorry.

PrestonNotHeston · 11/09/2019 11:54

Those are all really good names! I agree that Peter's due a comeback, along with John?

ButterflyOfFreedom · 11/09/2019 12:15

All nice enough.

Joseph is my favourite.
Edward my least favourite.

Mayannay · 11/09/2019 12:39

Peter and Jonathan stand out as refreshing underused classics!

Some of the others are a bit boring as so common. I also don't like the Willi part of William.

AverageMummy · 11/09/2019 16:08

Alexander - love
Benjamin - love love love
Edward - nice, really like Ned
George - ok
Jonathan - dislike but only because it feels bland
Joseph - ok
Peter - Narnia, Peter Pan, Peter Rabbit - all the yes for Peter
Thomas - it’s ok
William - really like

What a fab list !

ElfishBiatch · 11/09/2019 17:04

Thanks for all the love!

I meant to include Henry as well.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 12/09/2019 01:46

You cant really go wrong with Henry either.
I must say this is one of the few baby names threads that hasnt made me cringe.

Lou670 · 12/09/2019 01:54

Lovely names. I like them all. I think Benjamin is losing it's popularity now. It was popular when I was pregnant with my first 21 years ago. It was on my shortlist.

I love Joseph and Alexander from your list.

AverageMummy · 12/09/2019 05:26

I love Henry but there are so many Harrys which would put me off a little. It’s still great though

Frith2013 · 12/09/2019 09:58

Alexander - ok
Benjamin - will immediately be nicknamed Ben. Unexciting.
Edward - dull
George - ok
Jonathan - dull
Joseph - ok
Peter - dull to the point of cruelty.
Thomas - dull
William - dull

finallychangedmyusername · 12/09/2019 10:49

Lovely list. Jonathan or Peter would be the most unexpected as neither are as popular as the others (and both are great names) I'm personally not a huge fan of George, although there's nothing wrong with it.

Nonmerci · 12/09/2019 11:39

I have an Edward, wonderful name. We call him Edward, none of this Ted/Teddy crap.

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/09/2019 16:04

Alexander - love Alexander but not a huge fan of Alex, it seems a bit meh. Zander is OK but maybe a bit faddy. I like Anders but imagine it would be a hard shortening to push as it's not a common one. I adore Sascha but I imagine that would be even harder to push.

Benjamin - love it. It was our boy name for dd1. Adore Benji as the shortening

Edward - not a fan of Eddie or Teddy but Ed and Ted are nice. I know quite a few baby Edward's

George - meh I find it dull and uninspiring

Jonathan - like it, a classic but not currently popular. Johnny is cute on a toddler

Joseph - I like it a lot but don't love Joe

Peter - not a fan
Thomas - love it but don't like Tom or Tommy

William--nice enough but I know alot. I like it shortened to Liam

Orangeleavez · 12/09/2019 18:19

Not my taste at all but if I had to pick jospeh is the best one.
