Thoughts on this name? Does it sound made-up? I really like it.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Chitarra · 10/09/2019 12:39

It is pretty but it does sound made-up to me! Is it?

Kokeshi123 · 10/09/2019 13:24

Ava, Avalie, Eva, Everley, Avery, Evelyn, they all sound the same after a while.

HalfManHalfLabrador · 10/09/2019 13:25

Sounds made up

WestEndWendie · 10/09/2019 13:34

Sounds made up but if you like it...

Coco6 · 10/09/2019 13:36

I like it!

NoSauce · 10/09/2019 13:36

Yes sounds made up, is it?

AverageMummy · 10/09/2019 13:56

Yes sorry
Avery & Adeline are pretty alternatives?

Lavenderblues · 10/09/2019 13:58

Every single name has been made up! Smile

Avalie sounds pretty and easy to say/spell. And she won't have to add her surname initial to her name. Good choice imo.

moirabeast · 10/09/2019 15:09

No it’s not made up...I love it but I don’t know.

Cute on a little girl but maybe a grown woman would not like a 'cute' name?

Outnumberedmumof4 · 10/09/2019 15:17

Ava, Avalie, Eva, Everley, Avery, Evelyn, they all sound the same after a while

So true 😂😂

WestEndWendie · 10/09/2019 15:35

Ave a lie down

moirabeast · 10/09/2019 15:48

How would you pronounce it?

OP posts:
mumof3andadoggy · 10/09/2019 16:05

Av (like have without the H)
A (uh)
Lie (lee)

moirabeast · 10/09/2019 16:15

See I like it pronounced ayva-lee
As in the name Ava with a lee on the end but kind of blended together so it doesn’t sound like I’m saying Ava-Leigh. Iyswim haha.

OP posts:
Lavenderblues · 10/09/2019 16:42

I'd spell it Avalee or Ava-lee in that case.

AuntieStella · 10/09/2019 16:50

I wouldn't know if it was Av-a-lee or Ay-va-lee from the spelling.

And if I heard it, I wouldn't know how to spell it: Ava-Leigh, Ayvalee, Aivelie etc. Or perhaps the full name and surname, Ava Lee.

So I 'd rule it out because I know I haven't got the patience for a multi-possibility name, and so would not give it to another person

Petrichor11 · 10/09/2019 18:23

It sounds like mashup of Everly and Amelie

I’m really not keen

user1493494961 · 10/09/2019 19:10

Made up.

NoSauce · 10/09/2019 19:14

It looks like the yoonique spelling of Everly and that’s bad enough.

AverageMummy · 10/09/2019 19:20

It really is pretty terrible - but then I think if no one else in the county is using a name there’s a pretty good chance it’s horrific

Iliada · 10/09/2019 19:29

I quite like it. It reminds me a little of the name of the town in Anne of Green Gables, Avonlea, which I always thought was a lovely name (also, it sounds a bit like heavenly). Avalie sounds pretty, like a village with lots of willow trees around a lake.

SunshineAngel · 10/09/2019 19:31

I've heard this name before in a book (sorry, I can't remember which, I read 3 a week!) and I liked it then, and I like it now :).

NoFucksImAQueen · 10/09/2019 19:41

it looks prettier than it sounds as I'm assuming itll be pronounced Ava Lee and people will just she has a hyphenated name

Astronica · 11/09/2019 01:19

I'm not keen. It comes across as a mash-up of several newly popular names, which, even if that's not its origins, is not a good look (or sound). Sounds like a mash-up of Everly, Aveline, Ava, Evelyn, Amelie, Avery, Evie, all of which are everywhere. I know of an Avalynn which is another similar mash of these names.
