I love Lydia!!!

forevercurious · 08/09/2019 12:53

Madeline :)

I like Lydia best, but I do like them all. I would spell Isabell as Isabel or Isobel.

AdaColeman · 08/09/2019 13:28

Lydia is lovely, my favourite from your list.

Isabelle (and all its variants) is hugely popular and has been for some time. I'm not keen on using diminutives, but Alexandra is pretty. Not keen on Mair.

Lydia...

Madeline is nice, but in the UK we call people by their short names "mad", not flattering!

neighbourhoodwitch · 08/09/2019 13:31

Lydia

Unless you’re in Wales, I think you might have issues with people pronouncing Mair as ‘Mare’.

I really like Alex for a girl, assuming she has a longer name like Alexandra or Alexandria.

I don’t like Lydia. Isobel is nice (prefer that spelling) but quite popular.

Frith2013 · 08/09/2019 13:41

Mair reminds me of Eddie Mair on radio 4.

I’d go for Lydia.

user1493494961 · 08/09/2019 13:56

Mair would work as a middle name.

MissHenty · 08/09/2019 15:28

Isabelle is lovely and it’s actually not that popular, it’s number 30 for baby names in UK

NoSauce · 08/09/2019 18:09

Madeleine and Isabelle.

AverageMummy · 08/09/2019 18:19

Mair is awful
Lydia is lovely
Isabel & Madeleine are lovely if spelled in this way

daisypond · 08/09/2019 18:22

I like Lydia and Madeline.
Isabell needs to be Isobel or Isabel. It’s nice.
Alex is nice if short for Alexandra or Alexa or something.
I don’t know the name Mair.

MikeUniformMike · 08/09/2019 18:36

Mair but unless you are in a Welsh-speaking part of Wales I wouldn't.
It isn't pronounced My-uh. It's n pronounced like Myra without the a.

Agree with the spellings of Isabel and Madeleine.

ukel · 08/09/2019 18:48

Thanks! Atm, it seems that Lydia's definitely the most popular. I get it, Mair is probably going to cause a few mix ups. It's a shame too, as I've always adored the name. Grin

I like Lydia very much.

Lydia is classic and very nice

Isabell is lovely but I would strongly suggest going with a more widely used spelling such as as Isabelle, Isabel or Isobel. It’s a really lovely name but I’m its various forms it’s very very popular (more so than statistics would show as there’s so many spellings)

Madeline is nice as well, but I like Maddie, many on here don’t

Alex is only use if short for Alexandra (which is a great name)

Mair only if you live in Wales as it’ll be spelled and pronounced wrong elsewhere
