Names like Agatha

DH and I are struggling to find a name we love for DC3, and at the stage where we feel like we've considered and discounted every name in existence.

The name we most liked has been Agatha, however we just can't do it with our surname. Like, definitely just can't. Agnes is out as has been used recently by a friend.

Can anyone suggest anything with a similar vibe that we might not have thought of?

@LarkDescending I have a double-barrelled surname, part of which I share with a famous writer of detective novels...

I love Alma, great name.

How about Jane, Sadie or Hester?

LarkDescending · 30/08/2019 20:06

OK so it’s Agatha specifically which doesn’t work!

Oh wow some brilliant suggestions here, plenty of food for thought!

Greta, Frieda, Jean and Margot all already on the list, with DH and I disagreeing about which we like best.

Quite a few I hadn't thought of - love Althea in particular.

Thank you!

Audrey, Claudia, Gayle, Enid, Ethel, Jean, Matilda, Dorothy?

I knew your surname was going to be Christie Grin that's such a shame cos it really does make your favourite name un-usable.

Are you an Agatha Christie fan at all? If so, maybe have a browse through her books for some inspiration of names from that era. I love the books but am drawing a blank on names.

Maybe Jane, after Miss Marple? Smile

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 30/08/2019 21:35

Edith is the same 'type' of name
