Vivienne or Juliette?

I really like both. Am leaning towards Vivienne but suspect it is quite divisive and Juliette may be better received...
Older sister is Saskia. Thx

Juliette.

sue51 · 28/08/2019 21:12

Vivienne is lovely.

user1493494961 · 28/08/2019 21:12

You could have Ettie as a shortening.

hungryhippie · 28/08/2019 21:15

Definitely Juliette. Much prettier sounding to my ear. Vivienne sounds harsh and the nickname Viv? Nooo

tabbiemoo · 28/08/2019 21:19

Not a fan of either to be honest although love Saskia
If I had to pick I’d go with Vivienne nn Vivi (although saying that makes me think of vivisection!)

Sexnotgender · 28/08/2019 21:20

I absolutely love both. I’d probably go for Juliette but would spell it Juliet.

MrsBertBibby · 28/08/2019 21:21

Vivienne! Much nicer. Or Vita, (as in Sackville-West).

Sophronia · 28/08/2019 21:29

Vivienne always makes me want to pronounce it the French way. I prefer the Vivien spelling.

Juliette/Juliet is nice. I know one who goes by Jet which is quite a cool nn.

hairyturkey · 28/08/2019 21:58

Love both. If I had to choose it'd be Juliet (I prefer this spelling though)

june2007 · 28/08/2019 22:01

Juliette, def a girl while Vivvian is either and I think of the guy from young ones.

WarmthAndDepth · 28/08/2019 22:04

Absolutely Vivienne.

FWIW, I have a a Juliet and she's never been called Julie.

Camparisafari · 29/08/2019 09:13

Interesting so many people have flagged up the English / French spelling issue which I hadn't especially thought much about before. DH prefers the English spellings as sleeker but I would definitely opt for the French ones as they are more romantic.

Thank you to the poster who suggested the Ettie nickname for Juliette, which is very cute and I would definitely try and use.

I probably still prefer Vivienne and I think it goes better with Saskia as a sibling set but have got a few more weeks to decide.

Thx for all your helpful comments.

Both lovely. Vivienne just wins, I think.
