Hi Ladies
Hubby and I were set on one name and everyone we know has turned their nose up and I'm now in two minds.....(the name is in the list)
Which do you guys like:

Arlo
Grayson Carter
Bertie
Georgie Bear
Jaxon Ryder
Rocky Lennon
Albie Koa
Joey

I like the thought of 2 together however will add my dad's name in there too which is William.

What do u guys think?
Xx

In order of preference:

Arlo
Albie
Jaxon/Jackson
Grayson
Bertie/Rocky/Joey
(Hate Georgie Bear)

I don't like double names but as middle name Ryder, Lennon, Koa, Carter are nice

mumofbun · 28/08/2019 10:20

I like the first 4 although Grayson Carter sounds very americanised to me if that's not something you're going for. Love Gray as a shortening.

Jaxon Ryder sounds like a character from Sons of Anarchy to me. Don't like the spelling of Jaxon either

Rocky Lennon i first ready as Rocky lemon

Albie Koa - never heard of the name Koa before. Made me think of Koala. I like Albie but could never use it as there is a cartoon in flight of the conchords called albie the racist dragon and my husband would just sing it all the time.

Joey is a bit meh and still just a friends or dawsons creek character to me.

I like Buddy but your husband is probably right.

AverageMummy · 28/08/2019 10:22

I like Arlo

Sexnotgender · 28/08/2019 10:22

Hate all of them! Sorry Blush

MustardScreams · 28/08/2019 10:26

Please do not name your child Georgie Bear ffs. Can you imagine a 50 year old having a professional career with that name?!

Out of the other names, Arlo is ok, but very overused now (4! Arlo’s in dd’s nursery).
Grayson - Fine. Carter middle name sounds like an American spy.
Bertie - lovely as a nn for Albert
Jaxon Ryder - sounds like an animated kids tv show hero
Rocky Lennon - what? No.
Albie Koa - koa reminds me of Kia the car or a boa constrictor.

RebeccaRae · 28/08/2019 10:26

Bear is really terrible.

Lots of these are fine as nicknames, but not as given names. So George is lovely and you can call him Georgie as a nickname. Albert is nice, with either Bertie or Albie as nicknames. But I don't think it's a good idea to christen kids with nicknames.

I really hate Rocky and Buddy, but don't mind Arlo. Grayson is unusual but I like it. Jaxon isn't a nice sound or spelling imo.

Would definitely go with either George or Albert on the birth certificate, and you can call them whatever nickname you / they like.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 28/08/2019 10:31

Name him George, and call him ‘Georgie Bear’ as a nickname when he’s little. I can’t imagine any 18 year old (or older) man thanking you for actually naming him Georgie Bear.

Arlo, Albie and Bertie are all ok, but very ‘now’ so I think they will date.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 28/08/2019 10:31

Ditto Jaxon and Grayson.

sawyersfishbiscuits · 28/08/2019 10:32

I feel like quite a few of them sound like toys.

Arlo and Bertie are both nice names. As is George.

Maybe save the nickname-type names to be nicknames.

Grayson is going to be very popular, I hear it a lot. He might be one of a few in his class. Also it could be the new 'Jayden' which in my area was the new 'Jordan' or 'Brandon'....

Disfordarkchocolate · 28/08/2019 10:35

I only really like Albie and Bertie. The rest aren't my taste but it's not my baby.

mumofbun · 28/08/2019 10:39

I don't really understand why people are so concerned with Georgie when he's older - yes if he's George you can call him Georgie but also surely if he's Georgie and doesn't like it when he's older he can shorten it to George?

Colourfulest · 28/08/2019 10:47

Koa is my boy name and Albie was my grandads name so Albie Koa takes the won for me!

user1493494961 · 28/08/2019 10:48

Your names are all pretty dreadful, they're either nicknames or sound like cartoon characters. Arlo is OK and George is nice without the Bear.

daisypond · 28/08/2019 10:50

I don’t like any, sorry. The nickname ones would be good if you use the longer form.

Mammyloveswine · 28/08/2019 10:50

I love Bertie... use Albert then you can use both Bertie and Albie Grin

Not a huge fan of Arlo.

I know a few Reggies and Ronnies lately! Charlie goes nicely with William.l, as does Robert (nn Bertie or Bobby).

CatSmize · 28/08/2019 10:51

Arlo and Albie are nice.

kenandbarbie · 28/08/2019 11:04

I would use any of the actual names that many of these are nicknames for.

Jaxxon is the one everyone hates isn't it!

LarkDescending · 28/08/2019 13:08

I like Bertie if short for Albert; Joey if short for Joseph or Jonas.

The others really aren't my style but looking at your list and tweaking a bit I wonder whether you might like Ryder William?

IckleBear · 28/08/2019 13:37

George Arlo

georgialondon · 28/08/2019 13:41

I only like Albie from your list

Bookworm4 · 28/08/2019 13:42

This looks like a comic book list of characters, all dreadful.

GreenTulips · 28/08/2019 13:44

You’re naming a child not a cartoon character

cutie101 · 28/08/2019 14:22

I'm not usually into trendy names, I actually know a Bear, Rocky and Lennon, not mad on them... BUT, having read your post I absolutely love Grayson Carter, the 2 together sound so smart and lovely. You clearly like newer names so really any name will be great as you will make it right, but although I don't usually comment on names post, I love Grayson Carter and had to tell you.

daffodilrosedaisy · 28/08/2019 14:25

Not too keen on Jaxson Ryder (sounds like a Disney character) or Georgie Bear (reminds me of CBeebies) but the others are nice! 😊
