Crikey, sorry for the typos, the website I copied from didn't proofread (and neither did I)

I really love this name and I would have used it if my children had been girls. Such a nice sound to it.

Lovely name but I always think of it as Emma -line not Emma-leen
Nn Emmy is very cute

Emmeline
Has not been seen
For more than a week.
She slipped between
The two tall treees at the end of the green...
We all went after her. "Emmeline!"

“Emmeline,
I didn't mean — I only said that your hands weren't clean."
We went to the trees at the end of the green…
But Emmeline
Was not to be seen.

Emmeline
Came slipping between
The two tall trees at the end of the green. We all ran up to her. "Emmeline! Where have you been?
Where have you been?
Why, it's not more than week!"
And Emmeline Said, "Sillies, I went and saw the Queen. She says my hands are purfickly clean!"

Xpost momo!

Brilliant strong name, reminds me of the suffragette.

BeanBag7 · 28/08/2019 21:36

Its lovely but Emily is one of the most popular names, I think Emmeline will always be mistaken for Emily

june2007 · 28/08/2019 21:58

Emmaline where have you been, "I went to the queen and she says my hands are perfectly clean" Or something like that. (AA Milne.) I knew an Emmaline at school if you like it why not.

I’m confused how Emmeline could sound like cheese ?!

momo01 · 28/08/2019 22:38

I think PP was thinking of emmental?

Heh1991 · 28/08/2019 23:10

Yes I was going for Emma-leen pronunciation! I agree it’s a beautiful classic name and love the Pankhurst connotation. Didn’t realise it was coming back into fashion potentially though. Thanks for all advice and so glad that (mostly) it’s loved!
