Biblical names

Recently talking to fiancé and MIL regarding baby names, ready for when we start a family. I brought up my love of biblical names and suggested Josiah, to which they were horrified!

Does anyone else see a problem? I'm in love with the name!

Moreslidingdoors. Why is it weird to give your child a religious name if you're an atheist. Most of these names are just Jewish names. I'm a Christian and I called my child after a beach! 😁

Why not? Lots of commonly used names have origins in other cultures.

As an atheist I couldn't give a shit if my kid's name was originally from the bible. Why would I? I'm an atheist!

I love biblical names. I have a Joseph, Susannah and Cassia.

Horrified with Josiah? [Shock] These people never watched The Magnificent Seven tv show.

People love to judge when Christianity is involved. There’s nothing wrong with Josiah or choosing other biblical names.

I love Josiah (and Tobias) - but then again I love biblical names too, my 2 DC both have first name and middle name biblical names.

I love Josiah, it sounds like an angel's name! If our LG was a boy we were going to call him Killian!

Josiah is lovely, DH vetoed it. And Ezekiel. He said no to both.

We're contemplating Malachi and Castiel, people will have their opinions but as long as we know we chose them because we love them, you just have to suck up the opinions

My ex boss is Jewish. I'm not religious but was christened. My sons middle name is the only name his dad wanted, his first is the only one we could both agree on. My boss was surprised there was no Jewish connection in either family as they are both traditional Jewish names. They also appear in the bible. Never even crossed my mind about this, was just the only names we could agree on

I’m also an atheist but love biblical names... they’re always so gutsy and strong! Josiah is a great name!

@SleepingStandingUp you're clearly a Supernatural fan I love the name Castiel! Wish I'd thought of that!
Ps meant to put in my pp I know Killian isn't a biblical name, but just as "weird"!
(We got the name Killlian from Once Upon A Time- its Captain Hook!)

My son's name is Micah. Love it. Josiah is also lovely.

@Forgottenwhatsleepis we are bit do genuinely like the name, I did suggest Jensen and Jared 😂😂
