Hi, this is my third thread asking for name help for my triplets who will be coming this week! We can’t decide whether to go for a Spanish theme (as my side of the family is Spanish) or not so please rate the names below to help us come to a decision:

Boys:
Mateo
Thomas
Brody
Diego
Max

Girls:
Aurora
Liliana
Logan
Inès
Ivy
Maia
Anais
Violet
Leila
Isla

Please feel free to suggest more name as there is not one name the whole family has agreed on yet Confused Smile

Mateo - lovely
Thomas - lovely
Brody - too American/common
Diego - fine if you give the others Spanish names, but would be strange if the other two were called Ivy and Thomas, if you see what I mean...
Max - lovely

Girls:
Aurora - lovely
Liliana - a bit frilly for my taste, but nothing fundamentally wrong with it
Logan - fine for a boy; awful and common for a girl
Inès - lovely
Ivy - lovely
Maia - a little boring, but ok
Anais - lovely
Violet - lovely
Leila - lovely
Isla - far too popular at the moment; the Emily of the day

MummyLikesCrisps · 18/08/2019 21:57

Aww... I want triplets! Good luck to you x

BackforGood · 18/08/2019 22:04

I think, being triplets, will make them stand out quite a lot, and have that fact commented on, throughout life (up to 18) wherever they go, so I would go for names that are easy for the overwhelming population in the country they are growing up in, so they don't have to start explaining their names (and the history), after they've already had to let people know they are triplets and answered those peoples inane questions.

So, if you will be living in the UK, I'd be inclined to go with the names that come easiest to the British, and go for traditionally Spanish middle names. If you are living in Spain, I would go for the traditionally Spanish names as first names, and put the English heritage side in as their middles names.

Best wishes for your new arrivals.

tripletmum8 · 18/08/2019 22:07

BackforGood thank you, your post is really helpful. However, the middle names are going to be similar to Rosie Jade (makes alomg those lines) as we lost a daughter a few years back called Rosie Jade and we’d like to incorporate her name into theirs as they never got to meet their sister.

Do you know their sexes? 2 boys or 2 girls?

Prettylittlelady · 18/08/2019 22:17

Wow - triplets that’s amazing, I agree with the comment about it being such a remarkable thing that they will be looked upon in awe for many years but I don’t think this should affect the naming process really, choose the names you love...here’s my opinions on your list -

Boys:
Mateo - I quite like this
Thomas - not too keen
Brody - this feels very Americanised
Diego - not too keen
Max - absolutely love Max! :-)

Girls:
Aurora - gorgeous
Liliana - pretty and nice to have a ‘full’ name if you call her Lily for nn
Logan - this is a boys name to me
Ines - this is absolutely beautiful, I think with your heritage you shouldn’t pass up being able to use such a lovely name
Ivy - pretty name it’s becoming very popular though
Maia - nice but I prefer the spelling with a y
Anais - very pretty
Violet - not too keen it sounds too much like violent to me
Leila - a little dated
Isla - pretty but overused

SinkGirl · 18/08/2019 22:18

I love Ines and Anais. Unfortunately I don’t like many boys names, so we had a challenge when we had to name our twin boys.

My main piece of advice: make their names distinct (different initials definitely - ours have the same first initial and it’s a logistical nightmare), people will struggle to tell them apart or remember which is which even if non identical. I know twin girls called Mia and Maya and it’s a nightmare, I can never remember which is which!

Hope all goes well for you, I have no idea how you’re surviving a triplet pregnancy, twins was enough!

tripletmum8 · 18/08/2019 22:25

SinkGirl I’ve had twins and we were constantly making comments about how lucky we were it wasn’t triplets, spoke too soon.

incontrolofmyownlife · 18/08/2019 22:27

@tripletmum8 twins and triplets?! Oh my gosh, what are the odds of that Grin

tripletmum8 · 18/08/2019 22:27

silver1977 we’ve always wanted the genders to be a surprise. However, as we already have 4 daughters (5 if you count my step-daughter) and 1 son - no we were not planning any more children - we asked if at least one baby was a boy because my son was very worried about getting 3 more sisters and if it did turn out to be 3 girls we would rather he had a few months to come to terms with having 8 sisters. Anyway, we know one baby is a boy but we don’t know what the other two are.

A combination of Thomas, Max or Arthur. Ivy, Violet, or Isla. Really dislike Brodie and Logan.

SinkGirl · 18/08/2019 22:32

I take it your twins are dizygotic / non-identical? Are your triplets all from separate eggs? You’re some kind of superhero. My DH joked I was having triplets before my first scan and I thought it was very unfunny - the twins were a total shock

incontrol if you’ve previously had a multiples pregnancy involving more than one egg (rather than monozygotic / identical twins from one egg) your chance of having another multiple pregnancy is much higher. This is why non-identical twins can run on the mothers side of the family (as they can pass on the tendency to release more than one egg per cycle).

Troels · 18/08/2019 22:32

Boy- Max
Girls- Violet and Leila
Or
Boys, Max and Diego (what about Carlos)
Girl-Violet
Or
Boys Max, Diego and Carlos.

tripletmum8 · 18/08/2019 22:32

incontrolofmyownlife once you’ve had one set of multiples the likelihood of having another increases.

Vivi890 · 19/08/2019 06:36

Boys:
Mateo - nice
Thomas - boring
Brody - nice
Diego - quite cute but very Spanish - might seem odd with the wrong mix of sibling names
Max - cute but popular

Girls:
Aurora - nice
Liliana - bit too frilly
Logan - isn’t this a boys name?
ines - nice
Ivy - nice but very common at the moment
Maia - nice sound but she’d be one of 1000 in her school
Anais - nice but I’d be worried about playground bullies and it’s close proximity to the word anus
Violet - lovely
Leila - no
Isla - nice but super common

Phillipa12 · 19/08/2019 06:43

Is true incontrol my grandmother had 6 siblings, 3 sets of non id twins!

Vasya · 19/08/2019 06:58

Absolutely love all of them except Brody and Logan. One of the nicest lists I've seen on mumsnet!

whattodo2019 · 19/08/2019 07:15

Max
Ines
Aurora

stucknoue · 19/08/2019 07:26

Apart from Logan being a boys name then only name I dislike are Brodie. I would chose 2 names with different sound endings eg one ending "ee" eg Ivy, one ending "a" eg Aurora and one something else eg Thomas or Mateo, it helps them be individuals. Best wishes and will be thinking of you - how many weeks did you get to, my friends triplets were born at 29, they were so small and were in hospital for 3 months but start university in 4 weeks!
