Pulling my hair out over boys names

Hi MN, I’m looking for boy suggestions please. We don’t know what we’re having but pretty sorted for a girl!
I thought we were sorted for a boy too, we have been settled for months on Frankie George.
I suggested we should have back up names and then DH told me yesterday that in the back of his mind he is worried because he went to school with a Frankie that was a bit loco 😂 I wish he had said something sooner!
We have ages to go but I can’t stop thinking about it/frantically googling.

DH wants George - I’ve agreed it will be middle name
DH likes Jackson/Jaxon but we already have a Jackson in the family and it’s just too popular for me.

I like old man names like Frank/Frankie, Rupert, Hugo, Stanley but the only one we both like so far is Frankie, and I’ve found nothing i love anywhere near as much!

Can you share your loved boys names as “back up” name inspiration please :)

Paxton
Felix
Max
Isaac

Hayden/Haydn
Grayson
Harrison (if it's the 'son' sounds you like)

Roderick

Jackson/Jaxon is awful. Quite like Hugo.

Shadow1234 · 15/08/2019 14:59

Frankie is nice for a toddler, but personally don't like the name Frank for an older male - George is nicer.

Alexander is a good name with a couple of nice shortenings. He could be Ally, Al, Alex, Xander, or the Scottish 'Sandy'.

Alexander George is a solid name.

Would Freddie (Alfred or Fredrick on birth certificate) be close enough in feel to Frankie, but also suiting your old name preference?

Must say, I really like Hugo George. This might be because every adult Hugo I've met has been a nice bloke.

AverageMummy · 15/08/2019 15:59

Jackson is really awful
Francis?
Hugo is lovely

Tell your oh to get over it! It was a random at school which I presume was ages ago.

If you look up any name you will find positive and negative representations of it. It is utterly irrelevant to how your child will be 🙄

Can he think of any other franks/frankies (or even Francescas) he's known who he has liked? That might help.

The other thing that might help might be to think back to school with adult eyes and think whether this child was "loco" for a reason, ie did he have a difficult home life, or a learning issue? It can help take away the association between the name and a simplistic child's impression of a person.
