Molly by a million miles.

I simply can't stand Heidi, it's so twee & cutesy. Molly is a bit cutesy too, but it's much nicer.

TatianaLarina · 12/08/2019 21:44

What could be more cutesy than Molly. Gah.

HotChocolateLover · 12/08/2019 21:50

Don’t particularly like either but marginally prefer Heidi. Molly sounds too much like Mop.

Mummyshark2018 · 12/08/2019 22:10

Like Heidi more but for my own dd I'd chose molly

Tillygetsit · 12/08/2019 22:23

Our family is full of Mollys of all ages from 5 to 87! Suits all of them.

IsobelRae23 · 12/08/2019 23:37

There are hundreds of Molly’s, but I really dislike the name Heidi.

Astronica · 12/08/2019 23:55

I much prefer Molly.

CheckingOutTheQuantocks · 13/08/2019 08:26

It would look well weird to call a baby Adelheid unless you were German, in which case it would be quite nice. Does your friend have German heritage OP?

Jellycat00 · 13/08/2019 08:39

Not really keen on Heidi, although i can see it's quite pretty. Molly is lovely though! My nephew's teacher is called Molly (in her twenties) and she's just lovely!

Nially · 13/08/2019 11:48

Not sure which one is nicer, like both, sorry

TipseyTorvey · 13/08/2019 11:57

Love Heidi. Molly sounds like she'd be a quiet humble soul, not sure why 😂. Heidi sounds more feisty (yes I loved the books).

Atlasta · 13/08/2019 11:59

My friends have no German heritage at all.
We've had the Adelheid discussion when she was researching Heidi and she's not a fanGrin

Neither

Hithere12 · 13/08/2019 12:02

Also molly is slang for MDMA. I don’t do drugs and barely drink and the first thing I think of what I hear Molly is drugs lol.

Herefortheduration · 13/08/2019 12:08

Heidi, much nicer than Molly.

In my area Molly means old fashioned and frumpy. "That skirt is molly"

Militantmartha · 13/08/2019 12:40

Adelheid isn't a nice name and prob very dated in Germany. Heidi and Molly are both lovely, think I prefer Heidi as there are already lots of Mollys.

Oysterbabe · 13/08/2019 13:00

I have a Heidi. We've had very few comments about goats and none from her friends.

FatTwat69 · 13/08/2019 13:05

herefortheduration I say molly all the time and no one else ever knows what it means! I say you know, she dresses ‘molly’. And they’re still like Hmm

That aside though, I like Heidi as it’s less popular.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 13/08/2019 13:19

Molly makes me think of drugs (but perhaps that's just my misspent youth?!)

I think Heidi is OK,.

TipseyTorvey · 14/08/2019 06:46

I always love it when MN teaches me new things. Who knew Molly was slang for Es!

Malvinaa81 · 14/08/2019 17:40

Heidi sounds German, and Molly sounds like a waif or stray in Victorian England.

Marlena1 · 14/08/2019 17:44

Is Sadie kind of in-between. Sorry I know you didnt ask for suggestions but sounds like she won't be able to compromise.

AverageMummy · 15/08/2019 09:05

I love Heidi & would have it as our girl name if we didn’t already have a Clara - it feels just a tad much

AverageMummy · 15/08/2019 09:08

I did know Molly was slang for drugs but I don’t think it’s a major problem

diddlediddle · 15/08/2019 16:18

Heidi is nice and more of a proper name imo. Molly is a nn and a bit juvenile for a woman.
