Love, Theo, hate Theodore. What do you think?

Of course you can.

imsorryiasked · 10/08/2019 14:25

Of course, its a lovely name

happycamper11 · 10/08/2019 14:25

Yes definitely

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/08/2019 14:33

Absolutely.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 10/08/2019 14:36

There's always Theophilus P. Wildebeeste

Parttimewasteoftime · 10/08/2019 14:41

Course you can nice name OP

IckleBear · 10/08/2019 15:30

Yes! :)

EL8888 · 10/08/2019 15:31

Yep. I don’t see the point of registering the full name when the shortened version will always be used

TillyTheTiger · 10/08/2019 15:34

You could always go for Theodosius if you fancy something with a Roman emperor flavour?
Joking aside, Theo is a perfectly acceptable name in its own right these days, and it's lovely.

katseyes7 · 10/08/2019 15:36

Of course. The little boy next door to me is called Theo. lt's a lovely name.

PetraRabbit · 10/08/2019 17:39

Theo is now a stand alone name. It's extremely popular so there will be plenty of Theos without the longer name (which I like but if you don't, don't use it).

SuziGeo · 10/08/2019 18:53

Theodoras is the Greek version. But if you are going to call him Theo anyway it makes more sense just to register him as that.

IAintWroteNoPoetry · 10/08/2019 18:55

Of course, it doesn’t make sense to register him a name you won’t call him

OwlPrincess · 10/08/2019 18:58

Yes, absolutely

jasbandcody · 10/08/2019 19:21

Thanks all thought you were all gonna say noooooo!

My cousin is called Theo.

Jojo0286 · 11/08/2019 09:08

I think Theo is just fine and my cousin just had a Theo not Theodore! I do find MN odd though, I have a Betsy yet I did a thread and everyone seemed to believe she should be Elizabeth, she is just Betsy :) xx

Heymummee · 11/08/2019 09:12

Absolutely! My toddler is called Theodore, but we only ever call him Theo and planned to register him as Theo until the last minute.

AverageMummy · 12/08/2019 11:08

Usually I’m not keen but some names are now pretty well established and Theo is one of those.
