I think it's really sweet. Surname is Heard, so whatever I name her she will be Miss Heard 😂

Others I thought of are:
Abigail
Audrey
Esme
Heidi

Views would be welcome.

Just don’t let her wander into any toy shops on her own.....

MsJaneAusten · 09/08/2019 20:38

I was just about to say that I love the name but it would make me think of creepy dolls then saw that @saucery has already linked to it.

QueenOfTheHighCs · 09/08/2019 20:40

I have an Alma and everyone loves it, including her. I chose it because of a Spanish connection, but we've not met any others yet - we've met some Albas (I also considered this name), but preferred Alma. I've never watched Coronation Street, so was blissfully unaware of that (as are most of our Southern friends and family!). GO for it!

magicmallow · 09/08/2019 20:41

nah too granny!

LadyPollyEstherCardigan · 09/08/2019 20:44

Alma reminds me of The History of Love too, like a PP! Lovely name Smile

SirVixofVixHall · 09/08/2019 20:46

I know one Alma, a teenager. She is half Spanish. I really like the name, pretty but not sugary.

user1493494961 · 09/08/2019 21:07

Alma is dreadful. Abigail or Esme are lovely.

Ginger1982 · 09/08/2019 21:20

@Snipples 😆😆😆😆

NoSauce · 09/08/2019 21:27

Alma is in the same bracket as Brenda, Kathleen, Elaine and Joyce.

SmartPlay · 10/08/2019 11:42

I really like Alma! The other ones not so much.

Howtotrainyourhamster · 10/08/2019 12:49

I definitely wouldn’t put Alma in the same category as Brenda etc! It fits in with the short, vowel heavy girls names popular at the moment like Alba, Esme, Isla, Aria etc, and is a much prettier sound.

MrsBertBibby · 10/08/2019 13:58

Alma is lovely. Really like it.

Abigail and Esme are truly hideous names. Audrey is nice. Heidi is no good with the surname.

Trixya · 10/08/2019 15:45

I like Alma, but prefer Alba Smile

WildCherryBlossom · 10/08/2019 16:26

I love Alma. It has such a gentle sound. If is the prettiest on your list. I usually like alliterative names and I do like Heidi but Heidi Heard sounds like yodelling.

Missbdhfc · 10/08/2019 19:13

Thanks all. I think I might stick with Alma. Until she pops out and looks like a Lydia or something!

WildCherryBlossom · 10/08/2019 20:15

Lydia is also pretty! I didn't have a definite name in mind when I was pregnant. I do like to look at them and decide if it suits. DH cradling DC2 shortly after birth suggested a name (one I do like and had kept on the shortlist) and I felt so strongly that it was wrong for that baby. No idea why. It just didn't feel right at all. We came up with something completely different in the end and it is perfect!

(Alma is beautiful though so I hope it suits her!)

WitchesGlove · 10/08/2019 21:02

Alba?

Antonin · 10/08/2019 22:22

The reason I don’t like Alma is that it became popular in the U.K. because of the Battle of Alma in the Crimean War. People used the name to commemorate the loss of loved ones or survival of loved ones who fought in the battle.

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 20/08/2019 18:52

Alma Heard is lovely

AlpacaGoodnight · 22/08/2019 19:33

I wasn't sure when I first read it but it's growing on me very quickly! I think it's a great choice!

partofyoupoursoutofme · 22/08/2019 20:49

Alma is lovely, I know a 3 year old one who is gorgeous!

AverageMummy · 23/08/2019 09:26

Abigail - hate it
Audrey - beautiful
Esme - nice
Heidi - not with your surname sorry

Alma - yes - beautiful classy & unusual

Lowlandlucky · 23/08/2019 09:30

Nice

AudacityOfHope · 23/08/2019 11:06

Very granny and not chic.

Prefer Alba by a million miles. Or Arna.

Sabina21 · 23/08/2019 15:22

I like it . I don't think Heidi goes with Heard
