DD is Esmé, what do you think of Elodie or Liberty as a name for another girl? Does it go with Esmé? Or other suggestions! Thanks xx

Liberty!

AverageMummy · 27/07/2019 15:04

Do remember some will hate whatever you choose.
Others that might appeal:
Olive

Madeleine
Eleanor
Marnie
Bethany

Derbee · 27/07/2019 17:17

With a strong Eh sound in Esmé, other pretty (and different initial names) that I like are

Heather
Penny
Genevieve

Derbee · 27/07/2019 17:21

Or similar first syllable with Esmés second syllable like Freya?

Elodie is quite a middle aged name, in France anyway. Liberty sounds a bit... uncouth.

Fontofnoknowledge · 28/07/2019 07:52

Liberty is better unless you don't mind a lifetime of spelling Elodie. Also a bit try too hard unless you are French.

How about Lydia ?

Pineapplefish · 28/07/2019 07:53

Liberty is nicer and goes better with Esme in my opinion.

Pineapplefish · 28/07/2019 07:54

Ooh I do like Lydia!

4under4our · 28/07/2019 07:56

Absolutely love them both. Wouldn't be able to pick a favourite.

Not helpful at all I'm afraid, sorry!

Sooverthemill · 28/07/2019 07:56

Elodie

Sooverthemill · 28/07/2019 08:00

Celeste, Eloise, mathilde, Lea.

Lots of lovely French names. I do not like Liberty as a name.

Yogagirl123 · 28/07/2019 08:12

Liberty, I would choose out of those two names.

Personally I would not use the same initial for my children, for one thing I think it’s a little twee and a more practical reasons, post etc. could be confusing as to which Miss e Lumay the letter is for.

I love Elodie!! I think it's beautiful! Both Esme and Elodie were on my list when I was pregnant!

Not a fan of Liberty at all!

What about Amelia to go with Esme? Or Amelie?

But I think Elodie and Esme sound lovely together!

rachelgrace · 28/07/2019 10:47

Elodie

Astronica · 28/07/2019 14:30

I much prefer Elodie, and I think Esme and Elodie are lovely as a pair of sisters - not too similar at all.

MissHenty · 28/07/2019 15:45

Elodie

Find it really funny that posters on here say having the same initial will be a real problem for “post” 🤣Barely any companies send things through the post anymore. That worry is going to be very out of date very quickly!!

FreddiesMammy · 28/07/2019 15:48

Elodie is besutiful

carmenbea · 28/07/2019 15:59

Liberty!

PixieLumos · 28/07/2019 16:02

Elodie. Liberty looks nicer written down than it sounds out loud.

CruCru · 28/07/2019 16:59

Out of the two, I would pick Liberty. Although I really like Eloise, having two daughters called Miss E Surname means they’ll open each other’s post.

Someone once told me that lots of the French names that I think are lovely (like Elodie) are quite dated in France. Not being French (or living in France), I don’t know how true this is.
