TTC but cannot agree on any names

So me and my fiancé are TTC and are beginning to think about baby names

Have name changed for this as don't want it to be associated with other posts if we choose to go with a name on here and our families see

Here are the requirements

No names that begin with J T or M

Traditional but not too popular

No names that are associated with describing something particularly weather etc (snowy)

No names that are related to the outdoors (river rocky)

No flower names (poppy. Rose etc)

I think names that end in a ie, ia or er sound best with surname

Something that can have a nickname

Think this is all the requirements. If I think of anything else I will add. Please help

OP, to be honest, I'd hold off on this until you have conceived. You don't even need to have the name before the baby's here. It may help you to decide a name by looking at your new arrival and seeing what name they look like.

You really don't need to be wondering about preferred names when you're not yet pregnant. It took us a year to get pregnant with DC1 so you're really putting the cart before the horse here. You could be months away from needing names.

I know what you are saying and we have been TTC for nearly 16 months now. I know it is a long process and am trying to come to terms that it may never happen but thinking about names keeps my mind off the wait and stops me stressing

OP, that makes more sense. Have a look at one of the websites that let you and your partner choose names seperately then shows you shared choices at the end. It didn't work for us with DC2, we never did agree on a boy's name, but it's fun to have a go at and see what comes up.

Thank you. didn't know you could do that so will definitely have a look.

Yeah, that site is quite good, although DH only picked one fucking name when I got him to do it and it was Jack not at all to my taste. He's a bundle of laughs my DH Hmm.

You could also do what we eventually did and come up with a list each. Agree on some of them, as in "I don't dislike them / I could live with one of them". Then you pick a boy name and he picks a girl name. Then depending on what you have, you use the one. It worked for us! There was simply no hope of him liking my top choice and no hope of me liking his top choice either, so we had to compromise.

Neither of our dcs has either of our top choice names as a result 😂. But we both really like both of their names.

Ah was going to suggest William as a pp has already done - it's a lovely name and I hardly meet any children with this name (I'm a teacher so do meet quite a few kids!). I wanted it for DS but DH didn't like it for some reason. Also Robert, Peter, Matthew...all classics I don't hear that often. For girls - Flora, Catherine, Sarah?

Sorry you've been TTC for a while without success.
I'm sorry but I agree that it's a bit early to be thinking/worrying about names.
Although you should probably discuss baby's surname - I feel strongly that a baby should have its mother's surname (which is in fact traditional).
You say fiancé - do you have a wedding date or is it an indefinite engagement?
A bit of wedding planning should distract you from TTC worries Wink

NoName999 · 24/07/2019 19:33

Thanks @NameChange30. Any children will have partners surname which will also be mine when we get married. we get married next year so most wedding plans are already sorted or can't be done until closer to the time. I like to get things sorted as early as possible.

Thank you for the name suggestions there are definitely some I like on those lists.
