Opinions on girls names

Me and my husband recently found out we’re having a girl through an early harmony test :)

Although I really wanted a girl - we had boys names nailed and are still struggling with a girls name! Our surname is Allen and a lot of the girls names we like end in an ‘a’ or sound like vowel overload, e.g we really like Mila but I think it’s just too much of a mouthful

So far this is the short list - we don’t have many so additional ideas of similar names would be great too, as well as any middle name ideas!

Josie / possible nickname for Josephine but we both actually prefer Josie on it’s own
Cassandra / Cassie
Lucy

I love Josephine.

Lovely classic names. Elizabeth is another possibility.

I would choose a family name for the middle name, preferably quite a short one since your first name choices are quite long.

Rainbowqueeen · 21/07/2019 05:41

I love all your choices but would go with Cassie if it was me.

I would use a name which has a 'hard' sound in it to stop first name running into surname.

Bridget
Celeste
Juliet
Scarlet
Kate
Katie
Katherine (nn Kate, Katie)
Natalie
Rebecca (Becky)
Elizabeth
Meredith
Sophie
Margot
Genevieve

I really like both Cassie and Lucy.

Jellystars · 21/07/2019 08:36

Cassie is nice.

Atlasta · 21/07/2019 08:39

Love Cassie. ( Not as a short name for Cassandra though- I hate that). I also love the similar sounding Carrie.
Second choice would be Lucy.

Icklepup · 21/07/2019 08:41

Cassie!

Lucy Anne
Lucy Amelia

Josephine and Cassandra Allen are both lovely. They’d make great sisters.

I like all your name choices, I also would choose a family name as a middle name.

Tashven · 21/07/2019 22:16

Names ending in a ie or a sound don’t sound right with Allen. Need more of a consonant ending name.
Abigail
Adelaide
Beatrice
Harriet
Hazel
Imogen
Iris
Isabelle
Mabel

Josie is lovely. I know a little one who is just Josie, not Josephine.

Lucy is very nice too.

Lydia
Alice
Polly
Poppy
Alexa
Nell
Hatty (Harriet)
Sadie

Oops.... I've realised that actually Polly Allen and Nell Allen are too much of a mouthful because of the L's.
I love alliterative names though (my daughter has one) so i love Alice Allen and Alexa Allen. Smile
