Not normally one to give a rat's arse what others think, but there are special circumstances around this one.

I'm expecting DC2, a girl. I love the name India Maeve for her.

However SIL is of Indian heritage. Is it offensive? I'm also in two minds with the links to "the great British empire" and our colonial past. Wouldn't want anyone thinking I was a fan of slavery, etc.. thoughts?

I kind of feel like asking her gives her a right to name our baby! Or at least not naming her something if she's offended by it. View seems to be go with it if I love it. Now to convince DH...

When I was pg with DS I wanted Imogen Maeve. Don't love Imogen like I did then.

DH is desperate for her to be a Penelope or Francesca.. but I want something further afield than a top 100 name. DS has A top 20 name
