Really struggling to decide on a girl's name...fairly settled on Susannah but can't decide which is the best middle name -Celeste, Gabrielle or Coraline- surname is 3 syllables. Any thoughts or alternative suggestions?! Thanks in advance.

If your Surname is 3 syllables then I think Celeste, as Gabrielle and Coraline are also 3 syllables and it could be a bit tongue twisting.

Aside from that I prefer Gabrielle from your choices.

Celeste.

Susannah is lovely.

Lastbustowhitehawk · 16/07/2019 11:17

I love Celeste, I just suggested it to another poster without seeing this. Gorgeous with Suzannah which is such an underused name!

FindaPenny · 16/07/2019 11:21

Suzannah Coraline, though as pp pointed out three 3 syllable names will make for a long name.

diddlediddle · 16/07/2019 11:38

Susannah Celeste is really hard to say!

I like Coraline. I don't think there's a problem with the names being long.

RockinHippy · 16/07/2019 11:59

Celeste, definitely, the others just don't flow well at all

shumway · 16/07/2019 12:05

Celeste.

In this instance I don’t like the alliterative sound of Susannah Celeste, so I would go with Gabrielle or Coraline.

Rhubarbina · 16/07/2019 15:41

Thank you for the feedback, I am thinking a two syllable (or one syllable) name is going to work best, so probably Celeste at this point, what a minefield though it's so hard to pick a name!

I don’t think Celeste works with Susannah. S sounds starting both names, and four altogether. and it’s a bit of a tongue twister. I’d go for Gabrielle.

Equatoria · 16/07/2019 18:59

I think Coraline fits best.

AnonymousP · 16/07/2019 20:15

Susannah Celeste is so pretty!

Pemba · 16/07/2019 20:27

I agree with diddle that Susannah Celeste is hard to say - all those 's' sounds. Even though Celeste is pretty and Susannah is absolutely gorgeous. So I'd prefer either of your other choices, preferably Coraline.

But I do agree that Susannah, as a 3 syllable name, would be better with a one or two-syllable middle name.

Susannah Eve?
Susannah Clare?
Susannah Rose?
Susannah Daisy?
Susannah Grace?
Susannah Rachel?
Susannah Ruth?

Or something really traditional like Susannah Mary, Susannah Katherine or Susannah Jane.

You need a one or two syllable name but Susannah Celeste is a tongue-twister.

Tillygetsit · 16/07/2019 22:44

My Susannah has Jane as a mn. Nod to my grandma.

Paige26x · 16/07/2019 22:49

Celeste x

Rhubarbina · 16/07/2019 23:10

Thanks again for feedback, mixed responses to Celeste in particular, but really helpful. Thanks @Pemba for the suggestions, I like a lot of those but DH had already vetoed the likes of Eve, Claire and Rose, which is why I only have the random three middle names listed, we disagree on virtually every suggestion we each have, they were the only ones he didn't veto!

Part of my daughters first name is rose! Love it, such a pretty name

Astronica · 16/07/2019 23:57

While both Susannah and Celeste are lovely names I don't think they work together at all. Susannah Gabrielle is lovely and I wouldn't worry about length particularly.

Susannah Phoebe
Susannah Carys
Susannah Lucy
Susannah Frances
Susannah Jane

Adiaphanous · 17/07/2019 00:02

Celeste. Susannah Celeste is gorgeous!

Sophronia · 17/07/2019 23:16

Susannah is so beautiful. Susannah Celeste is my favourite from your choices.
