Due a baby boy in three days time, we had decided months ago on Archie. Then the royal baby came along! It was already a popular name I'm aware but feel it'll sky rocket now MM has used it and it's put us off. So we're back at the drawing board!

Previous names we'd considered are:

Frankie (Franklin on BC)
Freddy (Fred on BC)
Luca
Alfie
Arlo
Eli
Joe

Open to new suggestions as well!

I’m not keen on Arlo or Eli but your other names are lovely. I like Joe but would probably go with Joey. I like the ie/ey sound Grin
If you love Archie, try not to let it put you off. It may actually go down in popularity as people, like you, are put off. Just a thought

lovelylilyx · 14/07/2019 16:52

Like Eli
Joe is great but only if it’s Joseph

Frith2013 · 14/07/2019 17:13

Frankie (Franklin on BC) - ok
Freddy (Fred on BC) - ok
Luca - very common now
Alfie - massively common now
Arlo - ok
Eli - no
Joe - bit dull

Grufallosfriends · 14/07/2019 17:26

If you love Archie, then Alfie is the most similar.

McShakey · 14/07/2019 17:28

Alfie is the most similar to Archie so I’d go with that

WTCT · 14/07/2019 17:36

Just Meghan? Not Harry?

FindaPenny · 14/07/2019 17:39

Frankie - sort of see it as a girls
name these days,

Franklin could be cool
and unusual
Freddy- like Freddy... Fred not so

much
Luca- like it alot
Alfie- don't like it at all
Arlo-dont like it at all
Eli-its ok
Joe- like it, it sounds like a cool and kind boys name.... For some reason

What about Milo?

DramaAlpaca · 14/07/2019 17:41

She's done you a favour, IMO.

From your list I'd go for Luca, Eli or Joseph, nn Joe.

SummerHouse · 14/07/2019 17:42

I like Joel.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/07/2019 17:43

I'd still use it. What's the problem.
Not even the Royals own a name.
Other ideas, though.
Albie. Arnie. Dougie. Teddy. Stanley.
Lenny. Richie.

Sophronia · 14/07/2019 18:34

Eli or Joe if short for Joseph

Snoopy90 · 14/07/2019 18:36

I really like Franklin/Frankie

Bol87 · 14/07/2019 18:52

Just use it.. my favourite boys name is George and I don’t much care there is a Prince George nor do I care it’s super popular. It’s my fav name & the name I went to call my child..

But on your list, Arlo is nice but I know four Arlos in one toddler group if that’s your concern.. Joe is nice, I like Joey & Joseph! Less common these days I recon..

OrdinarySnowflake · 14/07/2019 19:12

With both Alfie and Freddy on your list, what about Alfred, known as Freddy but giving him the Alfie option if he turns out to suit that better?

OrdinarySnowflake · 14/07/2019 19:15

I also like Joel.

What about something like Jasper or Milo/Mylo?

Jonty (short for Jonathan) or Monty (Montgomery) if you are keen on a "ie" ending name.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 14/07/2019 19:29

Frankie or joe
Alfie and freddy have been done to death

Fatkins · 14/07/2019 20:02

Frankie (Franklin on BC) - no
Freddy (Fred on BC) - no
Luca - like
Alfie - overused
Arlo - like
Eli - no
Joe - no

YahBasic · 14/07/2019 20:05

Go Alfred so you could use Freddy or Alfie.

I love Jos as a nn for Joseph.

Nico or Miles are other options.

YahBasic · 14/07/2019 20:05

I also love Billy as a nn for William.

SaltedCaramelEverything · 14/07/2019 20:06

I like ordinary snowflake suggestion of Alfred to then have the Alfie and Freddy options! Also Alf is very cute.

If not then just Alfie as it’s closest to Archie

Bol87 · 14/07/2019 20:28

Had a thought - a colleague recently named their kid Artie? Not too different to Archie? Bit more unusual, first heard it on Glee I think but I think it’s quite a nice name!

Loveislandaddict · 14/07/2019 20:34

jackson
Hudson
Raffety
Milo
Logan
Zachariah
Elijah

Shadow1234 · 15/07/2019 01:14

Luca would be my top pick from your list

RubbingHimSourly · 15/07/2019 01:24

Fraser

Jonathan

Adam

Simon.

SausageEggAndSpam · 15/07/2019 01:45

Joe/Joseph is boring AF

But there's Josiah

Arlo is lovely. Luca is nice.

TBH I couldn't believe it when the royals used Archie because it's so, so, so, so overused, like Alfie and all the other names ending in 'ie' sounds. No pic wants to reach adulthood being called Archie. Surely. There's no more adult shortening of it.
