Hi, what do you think about Lucy for a girl?
Too boring? Common? Chavvy? 😬🤔🙊
Also, would you go with Lucy or Elizabeth?
And lastly, what cool middle name would you pick for them?
Thank you so much!!

Lucy India - love it, cool name and it has meaning too
Lucy Elizabeth - fine but a bit boring to have two very classic names
Lucy Love - God no! Was that a typo?
Lucy Alice - fine but a bit boring
Lucy Alma - second choice after India

I think it’s lovely, not chavvy at all. Would only be chavvy if it was spelt Looci or something!

If you like the name Love, why not Loveday? Such an underused name.

We have a Lucy Victoria! I love it still and she’s a teenager now. I work in childcare. We have just one Lucy and another joining us soon. It’s popular but not common I’d say. Definitely not chavvy imo

My colleague is actually a Lucy with middle name Elizabeth and loves it, go with both :)

septembersunshine · 04/07/2019 18:55

I have a lucy Isabelle. She is 9 and the funniest kid ever. HUGE personality. Her headteacher wrote in her end of year report that she had charisma and was the glue that held her class together! Lucy is not a dull name. Its great! It means light in latin, I think.

Might add its quite a rare name here (we are in the East). She is the only one in her school and has been for at least 5 years. Both at infants and junior school. My older dd said there are no Lucys in at least the first three years (7,8,9) but one Lucinda who goes by ger full name. I know one Lucia but its Loo-chee- aaa so sounds very different!

I have a Lucy, always loved the name, I think she suits it.

whiskeysourpuss · 04/07/2019 19:04

I have a Lucy Anne she's 17 & the only Lucy I know.

It's not boring, drippy, a bit wet or "a dogs name" (yes people have said this out loud upon being told DD's name).

It's a classic name which will always be around & suits babies, toddlers, children, teens, adults & old ladies.

froot · 04/07/2019 19:28

Not in the least bit chavvy or common thank you very much! WinkGrin

MikeUniformMike · 04/07/2019 19:30

Love it. Classic, won't date, not chavvy.
Does it go with your surname?

DramaAlpaca · 04/07/2019 19:31

Lucy is a beautiful name.

I'd go for either Lucy Elizabeth or Lucy Alice.

Shortandsweet20 · 04/07/2019 19:34

I'm a Lucy and it was popular when I was at school (10 years ago) but I'm now a teacher and we haven't had a Lucy for a good few years!

WhoKnewBeefStew · 04/07/2019 19:36

Lovely name

foodiefil · 04/07/2019 19:45

I've always liked this name and I can't think of a Lucy I don't like.

Think it works for a child and an adult

Mysa74 · 04/07/2019 19:49

Lucy India Harpin... Sounds lovely and would work at any age 😺

Firsttimemama2017 · 04/07/2019 19:51

I love Lucy! I wanted to use it for our daughter but our surname also starts with an L so my husband wasn't keen!

locketsprocket · 04/07/2019 20:02

I have a lucy... love it and definitely would not or have never consider it "chav"

She is the only one in her school and was the only one in her Pre School

I work in a primary over 200 pupils and not one lucy there, unlike all the Evie's, Ella's Ruby's Sophie's etc

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 04/07/2019 20:05

Lucy is one of the furthest names from Chavvy. Its feminine, but not sickly twee, classic, strong and suits through each stage of live. It also suits all classes (Working middle upper).
Elizabeth is nice, but I slightly prefer Lucy.

I love the name.

redtulip12 · 04/07/2019 20:17

I have a Lucy Alice. She has always been the only Lucy in her class. I think it's a great name that suits all ages.

VictoriaBun · 04/07/2019 20:23

Love Lucy Alice Harpin ( it's a name that takes you from young to old - a classic )

Nice Lucy India Harpin ( a lovely story she can tell people about )

Lironlavie1 · 04/07/2019 21:26

Wow thank you all! I think we will go with Lucy ❤️

Lucy Elizabeth or Lucy India

Tillygetsit · 04/07/2019 23:18

Sorry but I've never met a nice adult Lucy. Elizabeth is nicer.

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 04/07/2019 23:47

I knew a Lucinda at school who was Lucy for short. I always thought that it was a nice name!

Sophronia · 05/07/2019 00:30

I see it as a bit “wet” too.
