We don’t know what we’re having but DH has come up with the name Suki and I love it. I quite like Suki Elizabeth. What does everyone think?

I think Suki is the Japanese and Sukey the English, nn for Susan.

I like it either way.

I’m not too bothered about the dog/cat connection, but it seems like other than that people are liking it

I like it. I have never met a pet with the name either! I do know pets called Oscar, Toby, Freya, Ella, Luna, Amber... I could go on!

Love

I’d be always wanting her to take the kettle off, but then I’m old.

thelonearranger · 01/07/2019 22:47

Fatkins my cats are called Cow and Kenneth, so animal names mean nothing to me😂

Love it. I also love Kiko for a girl.

As an aside Cow and Kenneth are awesome cat names

Whathappenedtooursummer · 01/07/2019 23:09

Did like Kiki until yesterday when I found out her real name is Pauline!!

Gingerkittykat · 01/07/2019 23:19

Sounds like a cats name.

Also look at the Scots definitions of souk and soukie (pronounced the same as Suki) if she will ever spend time in Scotland.

First thought - ‘Suki take it off again’
Second - a let’s name
Third - I like it - kind of
Fourth - for some reason I’d think she was Finnish.

HeronLanyon · 01/07/2019 23:21

Pet’s not let’s

SushiForAmateurs · 01/07/2019 23:25

Aunt Grace in House at the Corner had a pet parrot called Suki that she dragged around with her visiting family.

That's my association.

It's an OK name - wouldn't make my list.

ShoutyQueen · 01/07/2019 23:36

Sorry to tell you, but 'suki' is 'bitches' in Rusian. Plural of B**

thelonearranger · 01/07/2019 23:56

We’re also considering Hazel and Helena

Always used to think Suki was very cute, as a more unusual nickname for Susanna/h than Susie. A bit too cutesy as a stand alone name though.

I did have the misfortunate of having to deal with a Suki over the last year though who was an absolute bitch. In her case it was probably short for an Indian name, not sure which one. She was the first Suki I've met in real life, and unfortunately, this has put me off a bit. But it would be silly for you to be put off! I still think Susanna is an absolutely beautiful name.

Pemba · 02/07/2019 03:56

Helena is a beautiful name too. Hazel still seems a bit of a middle aged name to me, but it has a nice sound.

Iliterallycantthinkofanythingq · 02/07/2019 03:57

I think it's lovely and considered using it for my daughter but was worried about potential horrible teenage boys making jokes when she's a bit older Sad

Birdie6 · 02/07/2019 03:59

Where I live Sooky means whiney / babyish. But if it doesn't mean that where you are, go for it.

Sophronia · 02/07/2019 04:18

I prefer Susannah or Helena.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 02/07/2019 04:32

Suki - a Siamese cat

Prettylittlelady · 02/07/2019 05:15

Honestly? I think it sounds like a name for a cat or dog rather than a human!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 02/07/2019 05:21

Cats name

balonzz · 02/07/2019 05:42

my nan's cat.

GenevaMaybe · 02/07/2019 05:49

Helena is elegant and strong. Lena for short. V sweet

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 02/07/2019 07:06

Pancake ha! Made me think about taking the kettle off too 🤣
