Otis the aardvark

DramaAlpaca · 30/06/2019 01:30

It's not my style, to be honest. It's the name of a company that manufacture lifts/elevators & I think it's the name of a cartoon aardvark or something. But I have no really negative associations for it, it's not awful, I'm just not a fan.

But if you like it that's all that matters. Everyone else will get used to it.

managedmis · 30/06/2019 01:38

Depends a lot on the surname

Personally I like it

Greensleeves · 30/06/2019 01:38

It's ludicrous

FckIt · 30/06/2019 01:39

It's my dogs name.

Tavannach · 30/06/2019 01:41

I love it.

tshirtsuntan · 30/06/2019 01:41

I love it.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/06/2019 01:42

There is no one I have ever met who doesn't love Otis Redding. I have to play 'break music ' at work with diverse groups and he is the only artist who everyone likes. Marvin Gaye is a close second.

So I'm a yes.

StyleOfTheTimes · 30/06/2019 01:43

Must admit I thought aardvark straightaway but if you don’t care about that and you like it then use it? No matter what the name, you’ll always find someone who doesn’t like it.

WalkingInTheAir13 · 30/06/2019 01:46

Conceived in a lift?
Sitting on the Dock of the Bay?
No.

LikeDolphinsCanSwin · 30/06/2019 02:04

I would like it, but the lift thing would be too much of an issue for me. A significant proportion of people stare at that in a lift several times every day.

And, yeah, the duck too.

tdam · 30/06/2019 07:04

I love Otis. Lots of people will bring up the Milo and Otis reference but I don't see why that's an issue.

tdam · 30/06/2019 07:06

And I don't see why the Otis Redding/Sitting On the Dock of the Bay association is problematic as inferred above?

Fatkins · 30/06/2019 08:23

Love it!

My sil made fun of her friend for naming her boy Otis, which makes me love the name all the more Grin.

Sophronia · 30/06/2019 10:22

I like it

Branleuse · 30/06/2019 10:51

i like it a lot

Mollie85 · 30/06/2019 22:06

It’s gorgeous

GlamGiraffe · 30/06/2019 22:09

It's a major lift manufacturer.

Now you'll notice the signs in them when you go in in. Loads of lifts have a big Otis sign inside them.

justrestinginmybankaccount · 30/06/2019 22:10

Never thought of it before and now I hear it suggested I absolutely love it!

BobTheFishermansWife · 30/06/2019 22:11

Cute, I really like it!
Wasn't there a Blue Peter or a Newsround presenter called Otis in the late 90s early 00s?

smeerf · 30/06/2019 22:12

We're planning to call DC2 Otis. If anyone asks me if it's after Otis Redding I'm going to say "no, Otis as in the lifts".

Hassled · 30/06/2019 22:13

Cool - really like it. Am biased by my love of Otis Redding though.

Kanga83 · 30/06/2019 22:21

aardvark. I do like 'sittin on the dock of the bay' though which is now in my head.

Tillygetsit · 30/06/2019 23:14

I like it. The only thing that puts me off is its Bryan Ferry's son who is very pro fox hunting ( grabs tin hat and flees from tally hos!)

Cbeebiesrehab · 01/07/2019 07:05

Love it.
I don’t see why being a brand of lift would be a problem really-a very inoffensive item. Otis Redding is cool as s**t too!
