Bianca - opinions please

Hi,
What do you think of a name Bianca please? Is it so bad as I heard from someone? Apparently it is spoiled by a tv character which I don't watch.
I love the name, in my country it is spelled Bianka. Do you think I should go for it or give up?

Like it. Very unusual but nice and classic. Never met one.

It's not very popular irl though, I know one in her 30s, so go for it!

To me it’s the opposite of classy.

In Italy its relatively posh, I really like it, and I don't think her peers will know the eastenders characters.

It’s actually a lovely name and used in The Taming of the Shrew but I can’t get past the Eastenders thing I’m afraid

I always wanted to be called Bianca when I was growing up I think it’s a beautiful name but I would think 99% of people are going to think of Bianca in Eastenders shouting Rickaaaaaaaaay

It's one of those names, like Sabrina, that can seem really classy depending on your associations or really unclassy. I like it and think if you love it you should go for it. I think your child having an Eastern European (?) parent/s will make a difference, make it seem more Euro cool than Walford cool. I quite liked Bianca Jackson anyway

My first bike was a Raleigh Bianca. Lilac and pink with white wheels. Beautiful!

I don't know the soap character and your child's peers are also unlikely to. For everyone that matters, Bianca will become your dd, regardless of who they currently associate it with. I wouldn't let it put me off.

If you live in the UK it’s a big no I’m afraid. I can’t even see past Eastenders (the tv programme it was on!)

Audrey is making a comeback despite the Coronation Street connotations, so I see no reason why Bianca can’t too.

Would you be pronouncing it Bee-an-ka or Bee-ahn-ka? The latter will separate it again from Eastenders.

I don't like it but I'm in the North East and I think it's the accent up here that ruins it tbh.

While there is the negative TV character association for a lot of people, it's actually a lovely name and I reckon a real life little girl would quickly displace the TV Bianca in people's minds.

Sorry it's a big no from me. I know a Bianca and she has every other new person make a joke about it. Are you Polish? Use Katazyna such a beautiful name.

I know a little Bianca. Think her parents are eastern European - it's a lovely name. Kids of her generation won't have any negative associations but some parents might. I think this will die out over time.

But her generation won’t think that at all. It’s a lovely name. And Bianca in Eastenders might be a bit rough round the edges but I quite liked her.
