Suddenly fallen in love with this name after going through hundreds of pages and not warming to any. I don't like it short for anything before people start suggesting using another name on the birth certificate. Was just wondering peoples thoughts on it? Smile

Thanks all, not keen on Elise. I do like names ending in ie and I don't think my accent makes it sound awful, from Leeds. My little boy is Freddie and I think the two names sound quite sweet together. Only other name we kind of agree on is Daisy, but Elsie is definitely my favourite out of the two. Really seem to be struggling with middle names that flow well with Elsie though!

I love Elsie - my GGM was Elsie Kate if you're looking for middle name ideas. I think it's a beautiful name.

SushiTime · 25/06/2019 11:06

Not far from where I was referring to!

As long as you say 'Fred eeee' and not 'Fred eh' I'll let you off ;)

To be honest, if you love it you've got to go for it. Who cares what others think to it.

Its a nice pretty name.
On a personal level, though. I don't like it.

yayitsagirl · 25/06/2019 11:13

I'd say I say it " Fred- i " if you know what I mean haha! My friend from Huddersfield says "Fred-eh" though hahaGrin

I prefer it to Elsa as that just makes me think Frozen. I tend to like names deemed boring or classic and I still like it a lot. I do also love the suggestion of Elisabeth though.
Dulcie has a similar sound & is also really pretty.
Elsie is lovely though - middle name suggestions:
Elsie Delilah
Elsie Juliet

Elsie Alexandra
Elsie Madeleine

AverageMummy · 25/06/2019 11:18

Oh and Elsie Georgiana

Beamur · 25/06/2019 11:23

Prefer Elsie to Daisy but I don't actually like it much as a name.
Billions of little Elsie's round my way. A very well used name.
Sweet but not very distinctive.

PCohle · 25/06/2019 11:28

I love Elsie!

diddlediddle · 25/06/2019 11:41

Tbh why are you asking if it's the only name you like? Some people will like it, some won't. Quite a few will suggest it being short for something but you don't want that so you're already set!

mrsm43s · 25/06/2019 11:47

I had a much loved great aunt called Elsie, and so love it for that reason. Her middle name was May. She was born around 1910, and I think her name was very much of that time. Her sisters were Marjorie (Marje), Edith (Edie) and Dorothy (Dorrie), if you like names from that period. Personally I think Elsie is the prettiest name out of those, but I have a small soft spot for Marjorie, although I'm not sure how usable that really is nowadays.

Owlbert · 25/06/2019 11:54

A lovely name!

yayitsagirl · 25/06/2019 12:35

It's between Elsie and Daisy, just Elsie is the only one everyone liked. I think I prefer it too

Dunno how how it comes across cutesy when it's an old lady name

It's probably the -ie ending that gives it a twee and cutesy feel.

It's not a name reserved for old ladies. Also don't forget old ladies were once cute babies Grin

REllenR · 25/06/2019 14:10

I much prefer Daisy!

Fullmoons · 25/06/2019 14:11

I much prefer Elise.

BoudicasBoudoir · 30/06/2019 12:33

It’s in the top 10 of girls’ names used this year. Don’t know if that matters to you, just saying...

CaitlinEJ · 30/06/2019 18:31

I used to like it but now it's so insanely popular like Isabelle or Chloe that it has become really quite dull and boring to my ears, which is a shame. I think it will date too.

Lironlavie1 · 01/07/2019 11:44

Elizabeth.
Hello. We are expecting our 3 child any day now and really stuck with names this time around.
We have a 6 years old called Emily Minnie Harpin and a 4 years old boy called Ben Harpin.
We are expecting a girl and my husband is keen on the name Elizabeth.... I think it’s a bit boring...? He loves Lizzie the character from pride and prejudice, and says that’s it’s just classic and strong... he says it’s so not cool that it’s actually cool 😬😳😂
What do you guys think?
I’m so lost.... I wanted a bit more of a cool/ deferent name as we have very traditional names for the siblings.

Any advice? Suggestions?
Thank you!!!
