Thoughts please!

What do you think of when you hear these names - what sort of person would come to mind to suit these names?

Thank you!

I really dislike Marnie - it’s an American “trailer trash” name to me. I like Juniper.

Lilyannarose · 19/06/2019 19:55

Juniper is gorgeous in my opinion.

bruffin · 19/06/2019 20:01

Marnie was a Hitchcock film about a women psychological problems starring Sean Connery and Tippi Hedren

Juniper is trying too hard hippy.

AverageMummy · 19/06/2019 20:06

I like both
Marnie is sweet & juniper sounds quirky / hippy

Owlbert · 19/06/2019 22:26

Juniper sounds prettier to me and it makes me think of the outdoors! Marnie just reminds me of a neighbour with extremely yappy dogs with pink sparkly collars and a Ferrari that never left the drive from they bought it until they sold it about a year later as her husband was afraid he would crash it!

mummymonica · 20/06/2019 00:53

Marnie is adorable!!

Astronica · 20/06/2019 01:22

I much prefer Juniper. Juniper makes me think of a lively, outdoor and creative person.

Marnie makes me think of Hitchcock first. And I think of a whimpish, complaining person (maybe sounds like moaning?)

Juniper is gorgeous!!! I went to school with identical twins called Marnie and Macie. They hated each other and fought constantly. They kind of put me off those names!

AmyMaria2 · 20/06/2019 03:02

Marnie by far.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/06/2019 04:13

I love both. Marnie by a small margin.

DontPressSendTooSoon · 25/06/2019 09:02

Love Juniper!

Pinkmouse6 · 25/06/2019 11:53

Marnie.

SlipperOrchid · 25/06/2019 19:09

Neither tbh.

Marnie is more like a pet’s name and is too America/not classy.

Juniper is too try hard.

AuntGertrude · 26/06/2019 18:18

Marnie is lovely - think of the book by Joan G Robinson "When Marnie Was There" which was made into a film by Studio Ghibli.

Frith2013 · 26/06/2019 18:39

Juniper is dreadful. An ingredient in gin.

PissOffPeppa · 26/06/2019 19:24

I knew a Marnie. She was very, very posh (and English) so that’s my association. She was also lovely, a real creative and absolutely beautiful. Only positive connotations for me!

Marty93 · 26/06/2019 19:54

Juniper doesn't roll of the tongue easily IMO. I can imagine someone called Juniper to be so posh it is offensive lol.

Marnie I just automatically think of Geordie shore ..... !

Not keen on either name but if I had to pick, it would be Marnie but .... meh. It's not great for me!

LookingGlassMilk · 26/06/2019 20:06

I love them both but Juniper is my favourite.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 26/06/2019 20:10

I love Marnie.
My first thought was Marni Nixon.

BarryBarryTaylor · 26/06/2019 20:12

I don’t really like either, I always want to say Sarnie (sandwich) instead of Marnie 🤷🏻‍♀️ I appreciate that makes me odd 😆 and Juniper is a bit hipster east London try hard (I live in Hackney!)

Have you considered something like
Soren
Maple
Wren

FUneighbour · 26/06/2019 20:17

I went to school with a Marnie. Funny I was just thinking about her yesterday, and thinking what a pretty name she has!

So yes, Marnie.

JonnyPocketRocket · 27/06/2019 18:03

Juniper is my all-time favourite girls name. I was set on it, but we're having a boy! I don't think 'Tory' at all - I feel like it's too artsy/boho for that. I like that of she wants to go down the quirky, hippie route in life she can be known as Juno/Juni, but if she wants something a bit more 'sensible' she can be June.
Marnie is also beautiful though - both lovely choices.

miamiibiza · 27/06/2019 18:05

Marnie

Fatkins · 27/06/2019 18:12

I used to know a hideous Marnie and "trailer trash" isn't too far off the mark. Dreadful as that sounds. When I try to imagine someone with the name, I first picture the one I know; middle aged, unpleasant woman, constantly shouting and openly homophobic 😬.

I love Juniper. I imagine someone with that name as being nature loving, free spirited and a bit of a hippy... but in a good way!

Fatkins · 27/06/2019 18:12

Juniper votes Green.

Marnie votes UKIP.
