I thought of the insult first so I would go for Jude.

boomboom1234 · 18/06/2019 20:44

Jude

Owlbert · 18/06/2019 20:49

Love Jesse, really dislike Jude even though I have met some lovely ones. Jude is really common where I live but only know of 1 Jesse

SaltedCaramelEverything · 18/06/2019 20:49

Jesse is my fave. I prefer Jude more for a middle name - not sure why, think as it was on our list for DS1 middle name as went well with his first name which we were set on. However for DC2 I’ve considered Jesse (but still very early days so not doing a proper short list yet!)

Do you pronounce it Jessie or Jess?

rosyedith · 18/06/2019 22:06

@SaltedCaramelEverything pronounced jessie. Like Jesse McCartney or Jesse metcalf ..

My DS14 is Jude I LOVE his name it suits him perfectly, it's a brilliant strong name imo!

Pinkmouse6 · 18/06/2019 22:23

My DS is Jude, great name.

Pinkmouse6 · 18/06/2019 22:24

Also from a Jewish family, no bad connotations.

chipsandgin · 18/06/2019 22:26

Love both, both got vetoed by DH! If I had to choose probably Jesse, but I would have been happy with either.

underhiseye · 18/06/2019 22:41

I've got a ds 11 Jude. Gorgeous name, I think Jesse like some others do as in you big Jesse (Jessie)

rosyedith · 19/06/2019 07:22

Seems like Jude is more popular which puts me off... no one in my area uses the saying 'big Jesse' so I'm not worried about that. Also it's not the worst insult one could have..

I like both. Not sure what’s wrong with hector either.

autumnkate · 19/06/2019 09:34

I don’t like Jude. I think I should like it because it’s quite cool, but I think the sound is quite unpleasant.

Prefer Jesse.

TheRedSquare · 19/06/2019 09:42

Jesse was my favorite ❤️ but I have a Jessica as a niece who gets called Jessy so I couldn't...some people made the whole 'you big jesse' comment to me, but I actually didn't care! If you think to hard every name has some sort of connection somewhere...so children would be nameless 😂
The name I chose got a backlashing on here but anyone we meet tells me how much they love it...so go with what feels right.

Say both names with your surname over the day and you will soon warm to one over the other.

But jesse is super cute, and I think goes with all age groups as the get older x

isittheholidaysyet · 19/06/2019 09:45

Jesse. Good strong Old Testament name.
O.T. name are in fashion at the moment.

Jude. Roman Catholic saint. Popular in catholic circles at the moment.

I like them both.

Shadow1234 · 19/06/2019 09:59

Jesse

fairybeagle · 19/06/2019 14:19

I LOVE the name Jesse, think it's absolutely perfect. I'd love it for next DC if it's a boy but I know DH wouldn't agree :(

rosyedith · 19/06/2019 20:40

Thank you everyone! Think we have decided to go with Jesse!!

OP posts:
Owlbert · 19/06/2019 22:28

Perfect!

NoFucksImAQueen · 20/06/2019 19:44

I have a Jesse, hes 8 now and I love his name. it's a bit of a marmite name but I think names are often by association so everyone who knows him will now think of him when they think of the name and because hes awesome (biased) they'll all have a good association with it. I also gave him a very normal middle name with lots of nickname options to it incase he hates it when hes older but so far he loves his name

rosyedith · 21/06/2019 17:19

@NoFucksImAQueen I like marmite names! I'm not sure what the sex is and my girls name is very marmite! But that's my style. Do you ever call him Jess for short ?

NoFucksImAQueen · 22/06/2019 08:15

@rosyedith I dont but my mum does and his 4 year old brother has started to as well so no doubt dd will copy. we do get a lot of the ie spelling on things but its just part of it
