Hi, my baby boy is 5 days old and still has no name. He is boy #5.

Siblings are Ethan, Harry, Niamh, Freddie and Conrad.

Middle name will be Phoenix

Brady Phoenix
Jaylen Phoenix
Saxon Phoenix (is this too X heavy?)
Taylan Phoenix
Theon Phoenix
Tyrese Phoenix

Which is your favourite?

Sixtus Grin

Banhaha · 15/06/2019 17:04

Out of your choices I like Brady best. Do you like Brodie?

Watchingthetelly · 15/06/2019 17:05

Sixtus
Grin

Watchingthetelly · 15/06/2019 17:07

I think Brady is nice and fits well with the other children's names

PanannyPanoo · 15/06/2019 17:07

I like Saxon best.

bridgetreilly · 15/06/2019 17:09

Those names all seem to reflect a different taste than the names of your existing children. Which is okay, they don't have to match. But it might be worth thinking about whether you really like them or are in a post-birth hormonal fog.

GrumpyOHara · 15/06/2019 17:19

I too was shocked by the options for the new baby. When I read your current children's names, I though, "What a gorgeous set!" All the names are lovely - they sound nice, they're classy, but they're not boring. The boys list just doesn't compare in my opinion.

I don't mean this to be rude and please don't take it as such but in my opinion Phoenix, Jaylen, Saxon and Taylan are quite horrible - they sound like the names of the children on a show like "Teen Moms" or something. Like Z list American celebrity baby names, whereas your other children have such lovely names!

Tyrese is, in my opinion, particularly horrible and almost a joke name? In my area it's like a jokey name for the kind of men who go to the gym too much and take steroids and get really beefed up and angry and kind of crazy and red faced and like stomp around town looking like rectangles.

Theon sounds like a character from a 1970s sci-fi novel.

Brady is the least bad, in my opinion, but I just wouldn't pair it (or anything) with Phoenix.

I'm not one for only liking old fashioned traditional names but I do like classy, nice sounding names and I don't think the new list are classy or nice sounding, sorry OP. If I met this sibset I think I'd feel a bit sorry for this child because his brothers and sister have such lovely names and his (if it comes off this list) is just nowhere near as nice.

Chilledout11 · 15/06/2019 17:21

Your current names are lovely but I don't feel the list you have are as nice as them.

carmenbea · 15/06/2019 17:21

Brady x

villainousbroodmare · 15/06/2019 17:23

I really don't warm to any of them. Theon would be the best except for the revolting and tragic GoT character. Can you draw up another list?

Loveislandaddict · 15/06/2019 17:24

Brady - love this.

Never heard of Taylon, Jayden and Theon. Sound made-up to me,

Threes is okay.

Saxon doesn’t fit with your other names, which are more conventianal.

Sexnotgender · 15/06/2019 17:25

Your current children’s names are mostly lovely. Options for new arrival are not. Brady is the best of a bad lot.

SallyWD · 15/06/2019 17:25

I love all your current names but agree the new names don't seem to match. I'm afraid I don't like any of them.

littlemissmoomoo · 15/06/2019 17:53

Oh bloody hell... it was meant to say Brody not Brady. Grr!!! We were debating between the two and although I prefer Brady, we decided against it due to Ian Brady.

Phoenix is staying as it's my maiden name and there are no boys to pass the name down. My dad died in February. The other boys all have family names as middle names. Dad's first name and middle name have already been passed down.

My first 4 are with my first husband, Conrad and the new baby are my second husbands kids and he doesn't like popular names. His own name is unusual and he loves it.

Other names I like but DH thinks are boring/popular are
Isaac
Adam
Oscar
Jacob
Otto (my favourite but dh doesnt like it at all)

Banhaha · 15/06/2019 18:00

Brody is lovely and I'm not sure how many Adams are around these days? I think people avoid it because they think there are loads so there aren't?

becca3210 · 15/06/2019 18:05

Your suggested names are so much nicer than your DH’s suggestions. Have to agree with the others. Stay strong Grin. My friend’s son is Arlo which although getting popular is less so than Adam etc.

villainousbroodmare · 15/06/2019 18:25

Conrad is imo from the same stable as Hugo, Ivor, Jolyon, Sebastian... I'm amazed that the same person who liked that would shortlist the above names. Your list is much nicer although I don't love Otto.

Chilledout11 · 15/06/2019 18:28

Brody is lovely

AverageMummy · 15/06/2019 18:30

I was also somewhat taken aback by your list after really liking the 5 names you always have.

I like Brodie but spelt the more usual way. Don’t like the rest sorry.

AverageMummy · 15/06/2019 18:32

I was going to suggest some more names then saw: Isaac
Adam
Oscar
Jacob
Otto

Erm hello? These are great! Tell the other half to jog on Grin
I think Oscar is particularly standout

TwoPonyTony · 15/06/2019 18:34

Broderick/Brodie would get my vote

Sexnotgender · 15/06/2019 18:37

Brody is definitely better! Love Isaac too.

NC4Now · 15/06/2019 18:38

Your list is way better!

PotteringAlong · 15/06/2019 18:41

Your second list is so much better! Go with any of those!

BarryBarryTaylor · 15/06/2019 18:42

Not a fan of your DHs suggestions, but I totally sympathise with the desire for an uncommon name. My DH really wanted Happy for our DS!!

Some names that were on our list;
Hiro
Ren
Nate
Cael
Kit (although very popular near me right now)
