So we have settled on Lana for our little girl due next month. It's the middle name that's now the issue!
Lana Ivy
Lana Violet
Lana Rose
Lana Mae
Lana Sophia

I personally feel like Mae and Rose are really common middle names (nothing wrong with them though) but we have a one syllable surname so it needs to sound right too 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Does anyone have any alternatives or faves out of these?

No to Ivy and Mae cos I don't like them.
Rose is nice but overused.
The others are nice.

Lana Elise
Lana Evangeline
Lana Isabella

Short or long are lovely.

DonEmmanuelsDingleberries · 15/06/2019 14:41

Lana Nevaeh

Lana Rose is lovely. It flows much nicer than the others on your list.
Short and sweet!

Nancydrawn · 15/06/2019 15:10

Lana Rose reminds me of Lyda Rose from the Music Man, which I love.

Not overly fond of the other names.

How many syllables does your last name have? That matters in terms of rhythm.

By and large I think I like three syllables or more. Something quite classic.

So:

Lana Elizabeth
Lana Eliza
Lana Katherine
Lana Cecilia
Lana Ophelia
Lana Francesca

I'm not the biggest fan of all of those second names, but they roll off the tongue better.

You can't use Lara becauae a colleagues daughter is called Lara? Hmm

Bananalanacake · 15/06/2019 15:42

go for it. Lana is a beautiful name. I have one. her middle name is Cassandra.

alltummy · 15/06/2019 15:46

It is beautiful but my husband didn't want it due to the anal association.

Cotswoldmama · 15/06/2019 16:11

I agree and think mae and rose a quite popular but it's more about what you like. From your list I like Ivy and Violet best. I really have a thing about the name May being spelt Mae!

qj17 · 15/06/2019 17:22

@pinkyredrose and because I want to name her Lana... hence this thread!

Quite so OP! Lana is so Hollywood glam. I'd go with Lana Vivienne.

HarleyS · 15/06/2019 23:53

Lana Leigh?

HarleyS · 15/06/2019 23:57

Lana Estelle?

Yes I know they do. I just don't see the point in actively naming child Alanah with the intention of only every calling them Lana.

Same goes for all the other examples.

justbeniceplease · 16/06/2019 00:17

wanted a "proper " name on the birth certificate but knew we'd never really use it, only the shortened name.

But why was my question. What's the point. It literally adds confusion to the life you your child unnecessarily.

My parents did this.

Called me 'jenny' but put 'jennifer' on my birth certificate. When I was 19 I changed my name to 'jenny'.

BubblesBuddy · 16/06/2019 00:25

We don’t shorten names in our family. We use what we are given. All longer versions. Other people shorten them but we like the full name and lots of them!

Lana Turner and Sophia Loren - go for it! Total glamour!

DD's friend changed her name to Alannah due to some horrible teens who had obviously been looking at porn.

She's a lovely girl but she had a rough time which is a shame as it's a nice name.

Lana Penelope

Lana Cassiopeia

I like a longer middle name with it.

Thertruthisoutwhere · 16/06/2019 10:13

Love Lana violet.
Lana always makes me think of lana turner.

Alternative spelling lanna / lahna?

Howtotrainyourhamster · 16/06/2019 10:33

I think Lana Sophia sounds best. Or Lana Violet.
I’m not sure if the backward thing would bother me - it does have teasing potential!
I also like Ilana (Hebrew name meaning tree) which is classier than Alannah imo and avoids the backwards spelling.

Howtotrainyourhamster · 16/06/2019 10:33

Totally agree Lana Rose is a definite no no because of the obvious anagram!

qj17 · 16/06/2019 10:35

I think Lana Violet is the current fave. Husband isn't keen on alternative spelling (don't think he realises the backwards spelling though lol)
