Names too similar?

Hello,

I have a son called Arlo and baby girl due in August. I love the name Willow but can't decide whether it's too similar to Arlo.

What do you think?

I think they are a bit gamey tbh. It's the o ending.

Tillygetsit · 13/06/2019 22:37

God bloody autocorrect! Samey not gamey!

Whoops75 · 13/06/2019 22:39

It’s borderline op

I probably wouldn’t unless you can’t find anything else you like

Pasgaddi · 13/06/2019 22:39

There are lots of ways you could say them slightly unclearly which would make it really hard to tell which one you were saying. I think too samey - sorry!

Wiseoldnannyplum · 13/06/2019 22:43

What about Willa?

PlainJane74 · 13/06/2019 22:45

They’re too similar in my opinion.
You did ask Wink

resisterpersister · 13/06/2019 22:47

I don't think they're too samey. Loads of people have two girls with names ending in a. Why not two DC with names ending in oh?

They will spend most of their lives not together.

Willow's a lovely name, go for it IMO.

Hanab · 13/06/2019 22:47

If you love the names who cares if it sounds similar 🤷🏻‍♀️ When baby arrives and you feel the name suits her ... name her Willow .. why the issue? No one besides you & your other halfs opinion counts 🌷

Pasgaddi · 13/06/2019 22:52

say out loud
arlo willow arlo willow arlo willow

they are both lovely names though!

Hecateh · 13/06/2019 22:53

I know a Jessie Willow - which I think is lovely

lots of other names would match with Willow as a second name too

and you can work out which is the best name for her as she grows into it.

indigo13 · 13/06/2019 22:54

They really are too samey, sorry

hopski · 13/06/2019 23:12

Both my ds names end in the 'ee' sound and it's fine

TurquoiseAndPurple · 13/06/2019 23:33

I think they're fine and both lovely!

tinker1317 · 14/06/2019 05:57

Thanks ladies, I've got 9 weeks left to find another name I like. If she arrives and looks like a Willow then that's that! It's just nice to hear what people think as I can't decide 🙈

They are very very similar - do you like Willa?

Valkarie · 14/06/2019 19:23

I wouldn't. I agreed to ds1 has a family name, which meant I couldn't use my favourite name for ds2 as they were too alike. I can't picture ds2 being that name now though, so al worked out fine

GaraMedouar · 14/06/2019 19:29

I think it’s fine. I know a couple of people with 3 kids each - all with an ‘ee’ sound at end and 2 syllable names.

CalamityJess · 14/06/2019 19:45

I think it’s a bit too similar, sorry.

How about...

Lila
Autumn
Indie
Briar
Winter
Hazel
Pearl
Quinn
Juniper
Daisy
Ruby
Calla/Callie
Hallie
Sadie
Elsie
Iona
Effie
Wren
Fern
Saffron
Polly
Rue

tinker1317 · 14/06/2019 20:50

I'm trying to convince my husband on Callie as it is also on my list!

OP posts:
Whoops75 · 15/06/2019 16:27

Love Callie

The full name Calliope is fab too

Banhaha · 15/06/2019 17:10

Is Callie pounced the same as Cally? Or more like Kayleigh?

Arlo and Willow sound very samey to me but if you're willing to use the pet name Wills it would work? It's not as samey as Harlow would be. Depends how annoyed you'd get when there was confusion about which once you wanted to call.
