Anyone think their children ‘look’ like a different name?

Just for fun really-not changing my children’s names not having any moreGrin
Today I looked at my daughter and thought ‘you’d make an excellent Jovie!’ (had to look it up to check it was a name mind you)
Anyone else look at their children and think they would suit a completely different name?

There’s a little boy at my son’s swimming called Wade and he’s petrified of water, which I always find very ironic!

Grin this made me smile

All my kids looked like a different name when they were tiny!

I had babies "Nathan", "Amy" and "Jane" despite liking none of those names

We often call our baby girl 'Keith' affectionately at home, no idea why! Not a name we would ever really use and nothing like her actual name!

Eleanor90 · 11/06/2019 23:06

Yes! My older DD suits her quite androgynous name but she’s a very girly girl and I think she’d also suit something frillier. “Theodora” has popped into my head a few times when looking at her, don’t know why! She would make a great Theodora...

I think mine suit their's perfectly, but maybe because I just couldn't imagine them being called anything else.
I debated for a long time with my youngest. I was torn between two names and very nearly went with the other one. So glad I didn't as he wouldn't have suited that name at all!!

TatianaLarina · 13/06/2019 16:26

I always think my youngest dd would really suit Romany. She’s bit of a wild cat with dark wavy hair and big blue eyes.

Don’t think I could ever have called her it though.

Dd2 was going to be Charlotte then when she arrived we said she wasn’t a Charlotte and we named her Hattie now although she suits her name I think Lottie def would have suited her

NameChangedNoImagination · 13/06/2019 17:57

My daughter also looks like a Charlotte, nn Charlie.

When DS1 was born I had to constantly stop myself from calling him Matthew. My mum said she had the same with stopping herself saying Susan to my Dsis.

RuthW · 13/06/2019 18:21

When my dd was a tiny baby I thought Frances suited her. She's a Florence.

ForTheSakeOfTheFox · 13/06/2019 18:26

When she was a few months old, I thought my daughter would have suited Claudia (which was one of our shortlisted names). I think she suits her actual name more now though.

ForTheSakeOfTheFox · 13/06/2019 18:33

Although I also think she'd make a good Ramona!

We had trouble naming ds2 as he looked so much like ds1 when he was first born. I kept wanting to call him by his brother's name!
I like his name but not as much as his brother's. I sometimes think I'd like to have named him something else, but I'm not sure what! He's almost 5 now so he is his name now whether it's my favourite or not!!!

My friend’s daughter is called Grace but it grates on me - not because I don’t like her name, but because she is just undeniably an Elizabeth. Lizzy. As she gets older she only gets more Elizabeth-y and looks like even less of a Grace.

Pinkmouse6 · 14/06/2019 09:52

My first DD (Ivy) suits her name so well it’s actually ridiculous. Her whole personality, attitude and appearance is very ‘Ivy’.

I think all of my DC suit their names but I wanted to call baby DS Sebastian and DP vetoed it. I still look at him sometimes and wish I could have called him it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/06/2019 10:34

I wanted to call my littlest Ds Ted. I try it out sometimes, but it doesn't suit him nearly as much as his actual name. The other one of the list for him was Jett (only half serious) and that would have really suited him.

soundsystem · 14/06/2019 20:28

My DD looks like a Peggy. She isn't called Peggy. She's 4, so I can't really change it now!

My DS looks like his name.

Fullmoons · 17/06/2019 08:07

I know a Grace who isn't very graceful Grin
