Hello!

Whats your Vote for Maisy or Maizy?

Also, would you spell with a 'y' or 'ie'?

DH likes Maisy, I like Maizie. Are either very popular? Smile

How about Maezi?

homemadegin · 08/06/2019 13:31

@BuffaloCauliflower I'm Maisie as was my granny. I'm also Scottish. I may now have forgotten how to say my own name I've said it out loud so often and just said to dh how do you say Maisie, but I think locally here most people say may zay Grin

sleepismysuperpower1 · 08/06/2019 13:33

i think Maisie, otherwise people won't have a clue how to spell it

avocadochocolate · 08/06/2019 13:36

Maisie or Maisy

Hopefullysmart · 08/06/2019 13:38

Maisie

2cupsofcoffee · 08/06/2019 13:51

Maizy - maize - corn. Risk of being nicknamed "Corny" as she gets older?

Haworthia · 08/06/2019 13:52

My Nan was Maisie (born 1926) so I always think that’s the proper spelling. Definitely no Z.

SavoyCabbage · 08/06/2019 13:54

I know a Maizy. The kids at school called her 'corn on the cob'

FlorenceKettle · 08/06/2019 14:07

@2cupsofcoffee Christ that's one hell of a reach Confused I'd put money on that actually never happening

Op - I'd go with Maisie

Redhanger · 08/06/2019 14:31

Maisie just doesn’t look right at all to me. I’m really surprised it’s the ‘normal’ spelling.

I say it may-zay (the zay is a short sound) because I’m Scottish but I know English people say it more like may-zeeeeee

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/06/2019 14:36

Maisie

OhhMyLittleGirls · 08/06/2019 14:53

Definitely Maisy, although Maisie is good too. If you go Maizy or Maizie she will spend her whole life correcting people!

Penny4Thoughts · 08/06/2019 15:24

Masie definitely pronounced with a z sound

Pinkvoid · 08/06/2019 18:34

Maisy.

My DC had a Maizi in their old school and that certainly did raise my eyebrows... Horrible.

Cbeebiesrehab · 08/06/2019 20:29

I know a Maizie and her mother is always complaining of people spelling it wrong. She actually had to go into school to complain because the teacher kept spelling it wrong and it was confusing her daughter. I would stick with the Maisie spelling myself.

MollyHuaCha · 08/06/2019 20:43

S not Z.

sunnyshines · 08/06/2019 21:54

Maisy or Macy

Sophronia · 09/06/2019 10:05

Maisie, pronounced may-zee

sunnyshines · 09/06/2019 10:16

Maisy looks nicer than Maisie.

sunnyshines · 09/06/2019 10:17

As does Daisy rather tanned Daisie

TatianaLarina · 09/06/2019 12:23

Maisy.

maimainomai · 09/06/2019 14:52

Maizie/Maisie looks more feminine than Maizy/Maisy imo.

Maizy looks especially spiky. But that's not necessarily a bad thing...

The z does look a bit as if you really like corn / maize but if it's about honouring your grandmother... Why not?

starzig · 09/06/2019 15:49

Maisie. Anything else makes you appear uneducated.

sunnyshines · 09/06/2019 16:13

Maisy looks more educated than Maisie imo

QueenoftheBiscuitTin · 09/06/2019 21:14

I think Maisie looks better personally. It has nothing to do with education as some other posters have mentioned.
