My cousin joked about me naming my baby Winston, at first I laughed but its really grown on me! And I am now actively considering it, DH doesn't know what to think Grin

Thoughts?

Good? Bad? Too old man? Too Churchill?

Fwiw we have a daughter called Harriet...

YUCK !!

Quintella · 07/06/2019 13:19

I think it's okay actually. As an Irish person I wouldn't use it as I'd feel a bit weird using a name so associated with the most famous British politician. But it's a good solid name. I think it's a pretty common name for middle aged Anglo-Caribbean man.

sunnyshines · 07/06/2019 14:24

I like it. Good strong name.

Goes well with Harriet too.

Sophronia · 07/06/2019 18:19

I like it!

Smoliver · 08/06/2019 10:39

Yes! Love it! It is my guilty pleasure name.

userabcname · 08/06/2019 10:40

I love it! Vetoed by DH though.

newnewname19 · 08/06/2019 10:42

What a fab name.

NameChangedNoImagination · 08/06/2019 13:20

It does remind me of a 50 year old Jamaican man but I still like it.

itbemay1 · 08/06/2019 13:50

I love it. I also love sylvester, shortened to silva

Owlbert · 08/06/2019 19:12

Love it!

Antonin · 08/06/2019 21:38

Nice strong sounding name. IMO much nicer than the stodgy old man names so popular atm

PixieDust26 · 09/06/2019 07:35

I love it! I know a Winston and he really suits the name!

MsTSwift · 09/06/2019 07:39

To me winston is an elderly Jamaican man in a pork pie hat

sunnyshines · 09/06/2019 07:45

I really like it.

Any previous associations change quickly once you meet a baby Winston. Although Churchill is not a bad one.

afterashowerr · 09/06/2019 07:50

I really like it, although Churchill is being viewed differently through the lenses of time. How about Vincent I think that has the same vibe.

CroissantwithCheese · 09/06/2019 07:50

It’s a cigarette brand Confused

Winston?!
sunnyshines · 09/06/2019 08:29

I thought cigarette packets have to be plain? Confused

StrongleBerry · 09/06/2019 08:38

A stodgy old man name is exactly how I'd describe Winston.

stanski · 09/06/2019 08:41

I like it

CroissantwithCheese · 09/06/2019 09:08

sunnyshines in the UK maybe but he’ll visit other countries in his lifetime.
