Tell me your thoughts on Embreglia

This isn’t me - this is a friend. Among her current name choice is Embreglia pronounced Embrellia. Her DH has said a staunch no so she asked me and I said I didn’t think it was a great name to be honest... so she wants me to put it to the MN jury.
I did warn her that it can be brutal Grin

Both friend and DH are British, so it’s not a name chosen from another country (as far as I am aware) but one that friend said just came to her, spelling and all, and she fell in love with it.

Do you agree with me and the DH or the friend?
(Lighthearted, it’s probably not going to end up as baby’s name but it is on the shortlist)

Awful

There appears to be 100% consensus on this

Does your friend understand what the word “imbroglio” means? It’s what she’d be getting her DD into if she used this awful name.

But she must be having a laugh. No-one could seriously consider Embreglio as a name for a human being.

Don't like it. Sounds like embryo.

Tavannach · 05/06/2019 02:05

I wouldn't. It sounds like a serious skin complaint.

Isitrainingihadntnoticed · 05/06/2019 02:08

It sounds like a chronic illness.

Duster12 · 05/06/2019 02:59

Lol

HavelockVetinari · 05/06/2019 08:52

It's awful.

Why don't you suggest Balonz instead? A good classic name.

BellMcEnd · 05/06/2019 13:18

I don’t know, I’m Torn Grin

spanishwife · 05/06/2019 13:22

Sounds like something that happens during birth.

FizzyGreenWater · 05/06/2019 13:23

Good God no.

DonkeyHohtay · 05/06/2019 13:29

Sounds like an Italian cheese. Or the surname of Aussie singer Natalie Imbruglia.

Either way, it's bloody awful.

TatianaLarina · 05/06/2019 13:56

Imbroglio means a kerfuffle. Which is not un-apt.

Aquamarine1029 · 05/06/2019 13:59

My god it's awful. First thing that came to mind was a medicine used to treat some horrid skin disease.

Aberforthsgoat · 05/06/2019 19:36

She’s seen the thread - she’s not going to use it Grin I don’t think I’ve ever seen a baby name thread that’s so unanimous!

Another child saved from a lifetime of bullying by MN! To me, it sounds like a device that the Spanish Inquisition might have used to crush people's genitals. Or the soothing embrocation that you might have rubbed on afterwards.

Aberforthsgoat · 06/06/2019 22:55

yes, thank you MN.
Us “vipers” do good work Grin
