Just that really. Not shortenings, as stand alone names.

I have a Zach who's a Zachariah.

TheDuckSaysMoo · 01/06/2019 20:14

Zac - as in Zac Efron

Frightenedbunny · 01/06/2019 20:15

I have a Zach!! I wanted Zachary but husband thought it was too religious.

MollyHuaCha · 01/06/2019 20:20

Zach every time.

mamaoffourdc · 01/06/2019 20:25

Zack

BackforGood · 01/06/2019 20:47

Just to confuse, I know a Zaq Grin

Divgirl2 · 01/06/2019 22:17

God I hate the letter Z, this entire thread looks like a zip.

Zac. Zak looks like the name of a 90s kids magazine. Zac is definitely the better of the two, although I prefer Zach.

Shadow1234 · 01/06/2019 22:29

Zac

Watersnail · 01/06/2019 22:36

I prefer Zak, short for Zakaria (one of the various spellings from Hebrew/Arabic).

Zac reminds me of sac, which in turn sounds very delicate.

Malyshek · 01/06/2019 22:47

I dunno, I think I like Zak better. It makes the "k" sound more definite, which is necessary if you don't have the full name to fall back on.

Though I'll confess I'm not a fan of the "nicknames as a name" trend. They lose their meaning if they're used as full names instead of nicknames imho. Plus, using the full name on the birth certificate means you have choices- you can use either the full name or the nickname, depending on your mood - whereas if you have only the nickname you're stuck.

Fedoratheexploreer · 01/06/2019 22:51

What about Zack?

JaneGlorianaVillanueva · 01/06/2019 22:56

I prefer Zac I think! Zak seems kind of American maybe.

bridgetreilly · 01/06/2019 23:03

In order of preference:
Zachariah
Zacharias
Zechariah
Zachary
Zach
Zack
Zac
Zak

Whereisthegin1978 · 01/06/2019 23:06

Zac

tiramisu1 · 02/06/2019 08:34

They both look and sound like comic sounds. They don't travel well to other languages.

I only like Zachary or Zacharias.

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 03/06/2019 08:06

Zach

Stephanie01 · 03/06/2019 10:26

Zac

HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo · 03/06/2019 10:29

James.

DizzyCow63 · 03/06/2019 10:31

I have a Zac, I love it and we have had no issues with people spelling it.

People on this board are exceptionally rude when you have asked only as a choice between two. Given many of the rather "out there" names around today, Zac/Zak is rather mild and inoffensive to say the least!

For us, it was simply that the Zak spelling looked a bit harsh I think.

Nikobee33 · 03/06/2019 10:35

I have a 14 year old called Zak and it's the only way i like how it's spelt x

Whoops75 · 03/06/2019 10:36

Zac looks better

DoNotBlameMeIVotedRemain · 03/06/2019 10:36

I'd also prefer Zach but Zac is better than Zak.

tiramisu1 · 03/06/2019 10:48

Zach looks like it should be pronounced za-ch like such or much.

Nikobee33 · 03/06/2019 11:28

Zac looks like it should have an h at the end. Zak is nice and simple x

daisypond · 03/06/2019 12:18

Zac. I would assume it’s short for Isaac.
