Baby doesn’t suit her name

Hi, as some of you will remember I asked for a name for my baby and we eventually settles on Zoe just before she was born, however 2 weeks later it just doesn’t seem right and I can’t think of a name for her, any suggestions?

Were there any other names that you were considering before she was born?

CaitlinEJ · 26/05/2019 21:22

Smoliver Aria but I think it’s too popular at the moment (and my son is called Archie and I think they’re a bit too similar), Daisy but it doesn’t work with her middle name and Nova but I know someone who has recently had a Nova, I have heard the name Alanis recently and I like it but I’m not sure.

Would you be up for posting a pic, so We can see what she'd suit.

Constantdishes · 26/05/2019 21:53

Does any newborn suit their name? Only probably when its a 'cutesy' one. I wouldn't change it for that reason alone

Malyshek · 26/05/2019 22:08

I like Alanis. There's also Alanna.

Don't like Daisy, to me it'll always be Donald Duck's girlfriend... But if you like flower names that could be a start (Rose, Iris, Flora...)

Not keen on Nova (means "doesn't go" in Spanish)

If you like Ar/Al names, how about Alina, Arielle, Ariana ?

Another option would be to stick close to her current name (Zina, Zara, Ziva, Zena, Ziya, Zuri, Zora, Zoya, Zita).

BlackToothpaste · 26/05/2019 22:18

No newborns ‘suit their name’. You’ve been calling them ‘pipsqueak’, ‘the bean’ or ’baby’ for nine months. They’re not suddenly going to look like a Helena or a Zoe.

Ah, I have a Zoe. I think it's a name they grow into. What's her middle name? Could you use that instead? FWIW, I think we called our Zoe 'didds' for the first year of her life. Not sure why! Could you change it Zara or Azaria, something similar?

IHeartKingThistle · 26/05/2019 22:25

Zoe is an awesome name and I particularly like that it's classless (that doesn't sound right - I mean there are Zoes from every walk of life so there wouldn't be any assumptions about her from her name!)

Walkamileinmyshoesbeforeujudge · 26/05/2019 22:27

We had Athena on our list.

Howtotrainyourhamster · 26/05/2019 22:32

My 10 year old has recently berated me for not calling her Zoe (well, how was I to know Confused) ?! Stuck with it, it’s a cool name she will grow into.

ShoshanaC · 26/05/2019 22:34

Zoe is a wonderful name to have!

Bluerussian · 26/05/2019 22:36

Leave it at Zoe, an inoffensive name that she will grow into.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/05/2019 22:37

I berated my mum and dad for not calling me "Music Centre" Anyone would ask my name. I'd say Music Centre.Blush Grin. Strange child

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/05/2019 22:38

It never caught on though. I can't think why. Confused

Cattenberg · 26/05/2019 22:40

I like Zoe. It’s a name of Greek origin. Do you like Greek names generally?

CocoLoco87 · 26/05/2019 23:12

Phoebe or Felicity...
Zoe is our girls name if we ever had one and those are on my shortlist too

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 27/05/2019 00:33

I hate Zoe- all the ones I know are horrible, bitches and not very nice, so that clouds my judgement!

Zoe is a fantastic name. I'm sure she'll grow into it. I spent the first six months of DS's life feeling very strongly that he should have been Ben. But I got over that and he suits his name now.

It's quite hard to suggest names for your baby when we don't know what she looks like, though.

Love Zoe! I wanted Scarlett for my daughter, it was quite a delicate name and when she was born she was far from delicate. We called her something else. She would now suit Scarlett. Don't make any rash decisions.

anothernotherone · 27/05/2019 10:50

As everyone says no newborns suit their name, unless their name is Winston Churchill or Squidgy.

Don't change her name, she'll grow into it.

Skyejuly · 27/05/2019 10:51

I really dont like Nova.

Love Zoe.

What about
Zara
Jade
Ruby
Laura
