Josie or Jolie?

EmLou1 · 26/05/2019 19:12

Just looking for opinions please! Two weeks to go and really struggling.

Sister to Hallie

Husband currently likes Niamh but with no Irish connections I'm not sure? He also liked Lara?

Baby girls we know born so far this year - Freya, Esme, Eden, Alice, Mila so need to stay clear of these.

I'd go for Joely. Jolie is a bit too Angelina.

Sophronia · 26/05/2019 19:26

Josie out of the two, but I prefer Lara.

Malyshek · 26/05/2019 19:27

It's hard for me to get behind Jolie because I speak French and to me that's not a name but an adjective. Julie would be fine...

As for Josie, it sounds more like a nickname to me ? I'd expect the full name to be Josiane or Joscelyn.

Lara's cool but everybody will make the Lara Croft connection so be ready for that. There's also Lana or Lena.

Malyshek · 26/05/2019 19:28

Also, instead of Jolie, I'd suggest Joelle ?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/05/2019 19:36

Josie. But much prefer Lara.

MikeUniformMike · 26/05/2019 19:37

I prefer Lara too. Hallie and Josie/Jolie is a bit too matchy.

Chocolatecake12 · 26/05/2019 19:41

Jolie will get mistaken for Julie so I prefer Josie on that basis.
Have you considered Jodie?

Proseccofuelled · 26/05/2019 19:44

Hallie is lovely
I don’t think those two are as nice
What about:
Josephine
Joelle
Clara

Jedeye · 26/05/2019 19:46

Josie or Lara or what about Lana

yuert · 26/05/2019 19:49

I think Jolie is lovely.

Jedeye · 26/05/2019 19:49

Also Jessie

EmLou1 · 26/05/2019 19:59

I like that many of you prefer Lara, I wasn’t sure if that was a bit to bland.

I’m so pleased Jedeye you have mentioned Jessie! That’s one of our dogs, didn’t even think how close Josie would sound to that either!

There’s just nothing that I really love, boys names seem to be a lot easier for me

I would go for Josie. Due in part to the fact I once knew a truly dreadful Jolie, but also I think it's nicer.

GlubGlubGlub · 26/05/2019 20:06

I would go for Josie, short for Josephine. I think it’s a beautiful classic name. I know several Josies and they are all lovely!

pilates · 26/05/2019 20:08

Josie

Jedeye · 26/05/2019 20:09

Ah EmLou that could be a good reason to steer away from Josie. Although you clearly like those kind of sounding names.

How about change the dog to Lassie, freeing up Jessie! Job done! Grin

BackforGood · 26/05/2019 20:12

I love the name Josie. Personally I'd go for Josephine in full and Josie as her day to day name.
I do think Lara is in a similar vein to Hallie though.

Shadow1234 · 26/05/2019 20:38

I love the name Niamh - could you not spell it as Neve if you have no irish connections.

Hallie and Neve go lovely together.
Not keen on Josie or Jolie
Lara is also nice.

Divgirl2 · 26/05/2019 21:03

I prefer Josie of the two, but Lara of all that you have suggested. I don't think it's boring at all.

Please don't butcher any of the names' spellings. Neve and Joelie look ugly.

Smoliver · 26/05/2019 21:13

I definitely prefer Josie. Also, I feel like Hallie and Jolie could be a bit of mouthful, particularly as the end with the same syllable.

chloechloeharris · 26/05/2019 21:14

out of those two, Josie goes better with Hallie but Lara is much nicer imo

Willowkoko · 26/05/2019 21:18

Love Jolie, but I see the spelling Joley more often.

OwlBeThere · 26/05/2019 21:23

i have both a josie and a joely in my family. personally prefer josie (pronounced Joe-see. some say joe-zee) our joely gets called jolene regularly!

OwlBeThere · 26/05/2019 21:24

shes never ever been called Julie though!

Treaclepie19 · 26/05/2019 23:18

Josie 😍
