Cecily or Cecilia?

Cecilia sounds better to me (I like how it flows better).

I'd suggest a compromise and to call her Cecil but apparently that's a boy's name in english ? (my cousin's name is Cécile and she's a girl)

Or use the irish version (Sheila)

DianaBlythe- I don't get why you using the name means your friend couldn't. If you were closely related maybe, but as she's just a friend... I mean, she's assuming that she'll have a daughter, that when she does you'll still be and stay in touch, and even if both your daughters were called the same name, so what ?

My dd mn is Cecily, it was exs choice but its really grown on me. Pretty and classic. Cecilia is pretty too but I agree it's very frilly. Neither are bad names though! Also like Celia

I love these names- Cecilia, Celia, Cecily, Celeste. Also Delia and Della. I like the diminutive Cissy too.

However I agree the Simon and Garfunkel song will be mentioned over and over. So As much as I adore Cecilia and prefer it to Cecily I got to give Cecily the vote of those 2 but I would use Celia is sooo pretty

Like both, but have the song in my head. My nan was nicknamed Cis, which I love. Her name was Elizabeth. I love Cordelia which is similar.
