Too much of a clash

We have decided on Matilda.
But before that, I had my heart set on Molly as a middle name for sentimental reasons. Obviously, that’s a lot of Ms and Ls, and if I was choosing purely for sound, I wouldn’t put them together. However, I actually don’t think thy are that bad together, and keep telling myself the full name rarely gets spoken anyway.
What do you think, too clashing?
Matilda Molly Surname

I think it’s fine. Molly Matilda flows a little better, but I get that you want Matilda first. You could even call a Matilda “Molly” for short.
tdam · 19/05/2019 07:47
I think it's fine, even quite cute. It's not perfect with Matilda but if it's a middle name you've wanted to use I wouldn't hold back just because of letter repetition...
Matilda is a beautiful name
teacuptale · 19/05/2019 07:50
I would go for it. I think it’s more important what first name surname sounds like anyway.
Bubblysqueak · 19/05/2019 08:01
I like it, I think it sounds pretty.
SundayMorningSun · 19/05/2019 08:08
I like it.
CarolinePooter · 19/05/2019 08:09
I have 2 M names. She will be be Matilda M Surname, or MM Surname. It's not a problem! I doubt she will ever use her middle name except on forms. Btw I only use MSurname in my signature, can't be bothered writing M twice!
CupOhTea · 19/05/2019 08:09
I like it too.
You rarely say the whole name anyway.

Thanks everyone for confirming my gut feel hasn’t been made completely unreliable by hormones!

Matilda Molly is lovely & actually Molly might make a refreshing change as a nickname for Matilda compared to all the Millies & Tillys ?
BlueMerchant · 19/05/2019 22:36
I like it.
Smoliver · 19/05/2019 22:45
I like Matilda Molly - two of my favourite names actually. I also like Calixtine's suggestion of Molly Matilda. Either way, it's a lovely name.
The nice thing about middle names is your child could choose to go by that name instead of their first, if they decide to do that. It's an old tradition but I know a couple of people who do go by their middle names.
DramaAlpaca · 19/05/2019 23:23
I really like it. Go for it!
Astronica · 20/05/2019 16:30
I think it's lovely.

Help! Last minute panic over whether we should add something to break them up... the only other name I love enough is Lydia:
Matilda Molly Surname
OR
Matilda Lydia Molly Surname
Leopardprintboots · 16/10/2019 22:28
I love Matilda Molly
Matilda is my favourite girls name and I like the two Ms but like you say it really doesn’t matter- you rarely ever say your full name. I didn’t even know any of my friends middle names at school.
aibutohavethisusername · 16/10/2019 22:41
Matilda Molly sounds good
Elmo303 · 16/10/2019 22:46
I think Matilda Molly flows really well and sounds strong. Adding another name kind of takes away from it especially if you’re just plucking one from a few you like for the sake of it. I would stick to Matilda Molly as it sounds lovely and you love both names, that’s honestly all that matters
Robs20 · 16/10/2019 22:46
Don't add Lydia, Matilda Molly is lovely.
TokenGinger · 16/10/2019 22:48
No, the Lydia definitely makes it too L heavy. Matilda Molly is fine.
JayeAshe · 16/10/2019 22:52
You must be joking ... Tilly Molly ..?
Just go for Milly Molly Mandy and be done with it.
Astronica · 17/10/2019 03:38
I would stick with the lovely Matilda Molly.
071019DD · 17/10/2019 06:01
Matilda Molly... gorgeous just as it is.
PandasMum · 17/10/2019 07:01
Matilda Molly is beautiful
@JayeAshe major stretch there
99bb · 17/10/2019 07:44
Thanks all. The Tilly Molly thing doesn’t bother me - can’t imagine any scenario where you’d use a shortening of your first name and middle name together.
MrsGilly1 · 22/10/2019 07:55
Matilda Molly is gorgeous x
