Kim Kardashian has named her baby.. Psalm West Hmm

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BSintolerant · 18/05/2019 08:57

Reminds me of a PG Wodehouse character called Ronald Psmith - “the p is silent as in pshrimp”. Grin

Did she have a particular psalm in mind when she saddled the poor kid with that name, I wonder?

Proseccofuelled · 18/05/2019 09:33

Blanket get inside you’ll get soaked & be.... Grin

mydogisthebest · 18/05/2019 09:37

Awful name but I would not expect anything else from such a trashy couple

Aimily · 18/05/2019 09:39

So they have 2 biblical names, one location and one directional. I guess that's a rather diverse selection of children's names.

I guess they will be in "show business" when they are older, so something a bit more out there works better than a regular traditional name I suppose?

Constantdishes · 18/05/2019 09:44

I think they just flick through the dictionary, stop and point at a word. Job done

Summerorjustmaybe · 18/05/2019 09:46

Spam??!
Grin

purpleme12 · 18/05/2019 09:49

I thought Psalm was pronounced sarm

Fraxion · 18/05/2019 09:54

I thought Psalm was pronounced sarm

Confused. Where do you get the 'r' from?

paintwater · 18/05/2019 09:55

Surely Samwise is the hobbit, not Sam West?

I’m surprised at myself but I actually quite like Psalm!

paintwater · 18/05/2019 09:56

Fraxion this conversation happens on every thread like this. Non-rhotic accent. Sarm and Sahm are pronounced the same to me.

purpleme12 · 18/05/2019 10:02

I'm sure it was pronounced sarm when I used to go to church every time

Fraxion · 18/05/2019 10:12

It must be a regional thing, I have never heard it pronounced with an 'r'.

ThanksItHasPockets · 18/05/2019 10:20

Gah, here we go again.

Psalm
Calm
Harm

all rhyme in a non-rhotic accent.

Prettylittlelady · 18/05/2019 10:21

It’s a shocking one but dare I say I don’t think it’s THAT bad...these are the Kardashian’s their baby names are designed to shock.
I think Chicago is actually the worst of the 4...
North wouldn’t be so bad (except the whole surname issue lol)
Saint isn’t weird - I’ve taught a little boy called Saint.
And the newest addition - it will take some getting used to but in the end it will just be a name like all the others

purpleme12 · 18/05/2019 10:22

There's really no need to be like that

AfterSchoolWorry · 18/05/2019 10:23

In my accent Psalm sounds like Sam. Hehe

PurpleDaisies · 18/05/2019 10:24

Maybe they going to have more.

Then they can have psalm 1, psalm 2 etc...

Calixtine · 18/05/2019 13:28

I think it could definitely have been worse. Saint is my least favourite, or North with the surname, which just makes it so gimmicky. Chicago isn’t that bad!

TheFirstOHN · 18/05/2019 13:31

Meaning: to pluck.
Which makes me think of chickens (rather than harps).

BBQwhoareyou · 18/05/2019 14:11

@ZenNudist
What’s wrong with having a baby by surrogate?

gingajewel · 18/05/2019 17:55

I also say it sarm, to rhyme with palm, when i say it it sounds nothing like Sam!
I don’t think it’s that bad 🤷‍♀️

SecretWitch · 18/05/2019 17:58

I was really hoping it would be Bear.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/05/2019 18:02

Boy or girl?

puma84 · 18/05/2019 18:04

How is it pronounced? I might just be thick but I can't read it 🙈

TheFirstOHN · 18/05/2019 18:06

puma84
Ignore the P.
salm (to rhyme with calm or balm)
