Thoughts on my boys list

FlowersXx · 16/05/2019 13:34

I still have a few months to go, but wondering what you think of my current top boys list:

Isaac
Edward
Fredrick
Owen
Peter

And any suggestions for similar names?

I’m also a bit worried about whether Isaac/ Frederick sound odd with my surname which ends in a K sound (think Banks)

I like Edward and Peter from your list. Fredrick looks an odd spelling. Peter is due a comeback. Isaac is a bit dated. Owen is fine but bland.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 16/05/2019 13:38

Like Edward and Frederick.

Similar might be James, Alexander, Christopher

tisonlymeagain · 16/05/2019 13:39

Not really keen on any but if I had to pick a favourite I would go with Edward.

NuffSaidSam · 16/05/2019 13:55

I don't love any of them, but they're all good names. I like Owen and Isaac best.

Other suggestions:

Zachary
Arlo
Orion
Marcus
Noel
Niall
Alexander
Benjamin
Joseph
Thomas

Petalflowers · 16/05/2019 13:58

A nice mixture of names.

Other names:
Samuel
Michael
Robert
Callum
Daniel
Zachary

SallyWD · 16/05/2019 14:02

I love them all except Fredrick (which I don't mind).

RedFox695 · 16/05/2019 14:07

I love Edward from your list, the others are okay, not keen on Owen though.
Some other suggestions:
Arthur
James
Sebastian
George
Adam
Jude
Albert
Francis
Jacob

FlowersXx · 16/05/2019 14:47

Thanks, if it was Frederick I would spell it the usual way, it was a typo Blush.

I love Arthur, Sebastian, Daniel, Joseph and Francis suggested so far, but can’t use most of them due to close family already having them!

Any thoughts on Isaac or Frederick with a surname ending in a k sound?

None really to my taste, but I would chose Owen from your list

Proseccofuelled · 16/05/2019 15:38

Isaac - not a fan but it’s ok
Edward - lovely name, particularly love Ned
Fredrick - don’t like but don’t hate
Owen - don’t like this either
Peter - adore this name and Peter Pan & Peter Rabbit

Others you might like from looking at your list:

Wilfred

Benedict
Timothy
Zachary

BlueMerchant · 16/05/2019 15:41

Owen and Isaac definitely the best. Surname sounding 'k' fine with both Isaac and Fredrick.

bridgetreilly · 16/05/2019 17:27

There's a big difference between e.g. Isaac Back and Isaac Banks. If your name ends in ks, which sounds like 'x' there's really no issue at all. If it actually ends in the same 'k' sound, it might sound a bit repetitive, depending on the vowels as well, but it's still probably fine.

Chocolateisoverrated · 16/05/2019 17:28

I like Edward the best and then Frederick. I know so many Isaacs that the name is a bit boring to me

Lydia55y · 16/05/2019 18:12

I only really like Edward on that list. None of the others are to my taste

MikeUniformMike · 16/05/2019 18:18

Call him Robin.

Calixtine · 16/05/2019 19:13

Lovely list! I think the k ending sounds are fine. My faves are Isaac and Edward; the only one I’m not keen on is Owen.

How about:

Evan
Rupert
Arthur
Robin
Louis
Lucas
Ralph/Rafe
Thomas
Zachary
Henry
Alistair
Oscar
Matthew
Joss
Fraser
Ivor

Calixtine · 16/05/2019 19:13

Elliot

whitehalleve · 16/05/2019 19:14

I don't love them, but from the list I'd definitely choose Edward.

IcelandicYoghurt · 16/05/2019 19:18

I like them all.

Or how about Robert?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/05/2019 19:38

If your surname is Banks I'd avoid Owen. Owin' money to the bank. Maybe I'm thinking too deeply, though.
I love Peter, buy I'm not feeling it with Banks for some reason
Edward Isaac and Frederick. I don't like these names, but The flow well with Banks.

Other ideas
Andrew. Alexander. Jamie. Oliver. Charlie. Oliver. Michael. Matthew.
Henry. Harry. Thomas. William. Ethan

Astronica · 17/05/2019 04:35

Hard to answer the surname question without knowing the exact one but I think Isaac Banks and Frederick Banks sound fine. As pp said, if it's just a 'k' ending I think that would be more problem.

I like Edward and Frederick best from your list. The only one I dislike is Owen.

Worlds0kayestmum · 17/05/2019 17:57

I have an Isaac (not my most favourite name in the world but one of the only names we agreed on). Be prepared for it to be misspelled CONSTANTLY 🙈

2cats2many · 17/05/2019 17:58

I really like Issac.

CupOhTea · 17/05/2019 18:25

Isaac and Frederick seem to be quite popular among small boys where I live. I'm tripping over Freddies and Freds. But, popularity aside, they are lovely names and I like the meaning of Isaac. I think Isaac banks / Frederick banks is fine.

Just not great if your surname is hunt or an occupation name beginning with c, like Isaac Carpenter (I's a carpenter)!

I love Peter and it was on our shortlist for ds.

Edward and Owen are nice too.

I like all your names Smile.

Ellabella989 · 17/05/2019 18:26

I like Edward best.
Not sure Frederick and Isaac would go with your surname
