Give me some boys names inspiration

We are due a baby boy in 10 weeks time and looking for some name inspiration. so far we haven't come up with much at all 🙈

I feel like everything either sounds very popular or too "out there" for us....
We both quite like Max, and it's the only one sticking so far , but I'm not sure if it's popularity is putting me off ! I'd like a few to choose from to see what he suits.

I like fairly common names like Jack, Harris, Elliot, Lewis, Zac. But don't seem to love anything.

We have two girls already , neither name unusual .

What are your favourite boys names?

The problem with these common names is there will be 2/3 in a class so they then get called jack h, jack y, jack f. I have common name and absolutely hated it for that reason. Can you find a common name that isn't flavour of the month? The other issue here is people will be able to immediately be able to guess your age by your name.

Bumblebeesmum · 12/05/2019 11:31

There won’t be multiple in a class because parents avoid popular names these days so the top 10 names are a fraction of the numbers they were in previous generations

Bumblebeesmum · 12/05/2019 11:37

Even the no 10 name is about 1% of babies (& Max is far lower down?) so 0.3 of a child per class.

That wouldn’t have been true a generation ago when the trend wasn’t as much about uniqueness.

ReginaPhalange89 · 12/05/2019 12:00

Well that's kind of the point in my post , everything I like seems to be fairly common and I don't want too common . That's why I'm looking for some inspo.

I have a very late 80s/early 90s name to be fair and I was the only one in my class, but a few in the years above me. So I guess it just depends on the area doesn't it.

Max was #18 on the list last year (of the baby boys registered in Scotland) so obviously quite popular but not TOO popular. I don't actually know any others personally, of any age . I do still like it and keeping it on the list but looking for more to give us a few to choose from when he arrives

I'm not really sure why that's an issue? Does it matter if someone can guess your age ? Lol

I actually LOVE all the boys names on your list, they are all the names we were considering if this bub was a boy. how about:
Henry
Harry
Connor
Thomas
Alfie

gingertesco · 12/05/2019 13:31

@ReginaPhalange89 Guessing you age. I more meant the name get very dated like Sharon,Tracy, Liam, Joshua, Paul, Lynne, Ava, Eva, Jamie/Demi lee (or whatever lee on the end), Jack, You can pinpoint someone age to the decade. Personally I wouldn't want this as you create preconceived idea before meeting the person.

I really love the name Elliott on your list, and prefer it to Max.

Max was #18 on the list last year (of the baby boys registered in Scotland) so obviously quite popular but not TOO popular.

If you add all the Maximilians, Maxims and Maxwells, it would be much higher. Max seems very nicknamey and incomplete to my ears.

Simmsie1 · 12/05/2019 17:31

Blake
Jude
Brody
Milo
Ollie

Calixtine · 12/05/2019 17:34

Max is one of my favourites. It’s a strong, simple, energetic name and pretty timeless (I know a few Maxes aged from mid-40s to under 5). I don’t hear it everywhere by any means, so it doesn’t feel at all overused to me. I’d definitely keep it on your list if it’s one you love.

How about:

Isaac
Ellis
Joss
Jude
Rex
Zeke
Nate
Henry
Xander
Felix
Otis
Mack
Reuben
Louis
Ezra
Alec
Miles
Oscar
Joel
Thom
